That's my prediction anyways.
I know personally I will not be using only Gallante and Minmatar equipment. I will want to get my tiny, grubby mits on proto Caldari made Swarm Launchers. That said, I will not willingly fight for the Caldari state for the chance to get them.
Like wise, I am not likely to use things like proto Gallante Logi suits. Though, I would still be able to buy them with my Loyalty Points.
The only reasonable thing to do is buy up items you can only get in your loyalty store, and sell them for cold hard ISK(at a discount from their regular store price) or to directly barter them for items you want.
I believe that these rewards would in this way, spark up activity in a player market. It adds a supply and demand element, where you have to interact with a middleman, another player.
Thoughts? Specifically on how the Loyalty Stores may impact the SOON(tm) to be implemented player economy? |

Was sitting in on a FW discussion with some of the more active proponents of the game mode, I think one of the core things we agreed upon was that the FW changes should be, or we would like them to be held back until such a time as a player market can be established and stabilised, otherwise we risk implementing these changes and making the FW game mode an unrewarding ISK sink.
In order for that not to happen a successfully maintained and supplied player market would be a must so that money could be made from FW, making it a attractive game mode.
However the one thing we cannot really do is make it clearly superior over Public Contracts which makes the call for no ISK rewards from FW a good thing....however you have to remember that FW EVE side is a viable and flourishing business, that is if you aren't as invested as some are. |

I had mentioned this in the original FW changes post but with the loyalty boosters you could in theory buy a booster for every faction and fight for all of them earning LP and standing for each one without losing them from the others.( Because with the boosters you cannot lose standings with each specific factions booster.) By doing this you will be able to buy things from every faction as you see fit. unless of course they do something about that and limit it in some way.
Another and in my opinion more viable option would be the ability to trade LP in the market place either for isk or for other factions LP. Perhaps the market could have preferred payment options where the seller wants to sell something in return for a specific currency.( To my understanding each faction has its own loyalty points which would be currency?)
If that is the case it would make sense that we could choose which currency we will accept for which items and or be able to trade straight up for other factions LP.

I was worried about how the mercenary side of things would fit into having to fight for a single faction, but this thread made me realise FW doesn't really affect that at all. As you guys have discussed, there is no ISK reward in FW, so we aren't fighting for any 'highest bidder' at all.
And secondly, ISK still can be used (once a player market is implemented) to purchase items from factions you're fighting against, or don't wish to fight for, or your corporation wants you to oppose.

Hans formed a discussion group over Skype to talk about FW and everyone, without exception, agreed on this point. |

One thought i had after reading the changes to FW thread the other day, is that with low or no ISK rewards in FW but potentially better rewards through LP, this would definitely promote the use of cheap or BPO gear in public matches in order to boost ISK..
possibly negating the pub stomp somewhat.

I don't understand why it needs to come before,
We could theoretically sit on our LP until it does open up, something similar to a certificate of deposit opening up, and as someone already mentioned before, it would reduce pubstombing because the fastest way to make isk is to play inexpensive fits, which I think is a good mechanic. |

You only have so many slots to equip boosters. They will probably only allow one LP booster equipped at a time |

Or it could increase it times 100%.
Squads of Vets could also just as simply try hard in every match and red line the enemy team ASAP. Maybe, your right and that would not happen, but I don't really want to figure it out.
The player market needs to come first, because then it keeps people with hundreds of millions of ISK from playing without having to take time to regain their ISK. It would lead to a huge imbalance on the amount of vets to noobs.
All these headaches could be avoided by simply introducing the market first. |
