The platform is orthogonal to all the issues we're facing with DUST. Google the hard words in my previous sentence before replying.
Also a glimpse from software development world: "rewrite" has bigger chance to kill a project, than leaving in on PS3 and letting people like you go play PS4 titles. It can also impact the company and not in a good way. Pulling a game with player base from a platform, to develop it for new platform for **** knows how long is not a viable solution economically, first and foremost. And BS about "saving what's left of DUST reputation" is brain dead. If this game is pulled out then it is no more. There is no game. Reputation is all that is left. And reputation for discontinued products means two things: jack & ****. And in two years, when it's re-released, it's long forgotten, because people have moved on. Also two years without user feedback and bug reports. Great idea.

Protocake JR wrote:orthogonal A word used by the tech-savvy to sound smarter than they really are.
More specifically:
A math term that means perpendicular, but not just in 2D but in any dimension. Now commonly used to indicate an idea or concept that stands apart so much from everything else that it "sticks out," is "from left field," or is "third-way." "I have this co-worker who keeps using the word 'orthogonal,' usually after he mentions some idea he thinks is God's gift to man. Can't wait to get this word into my vocab. Soon as I figure out what it means." - Urban Dictionary
I would go with Webster or Oxford instead of Urban, but here's a free PSA for the likes of you: people who know the word use it to say there is no correlation between things. And in simpler terms, just for you: changing one will not have impact on the other. It will not give us content, it will not fix the mechanics issue that are put in place by CCP.
Instead of being snarky you could just expand your dictionary a little. Because it's a lot easier to use one word instead of two sentences, every time you need to refer to a concept.
Protocake JR wrote:Anyway, where do I begin? "It's long forgotten" Yeah, no. You do not know that. FFXIV proves otherwise. Also, i'm not suggesting the completely discontinue the game. I'm suggesting a rebirth, unless CCP has a trick up their sleeve to get rid of the negative stigma they've created for themselves. I highly doubt the latter. Negative stigma? Negative stigma coming from FUDers like you? Yeah, that's something CCP really has to consider, LOL
You are suggesting flushing years of work in a toilet & leaving existing player base to die. This is what you're suggesting. Unless you somehow expect them to keep up both versions online or come up with PS4 version when PS4 hits the shelves. First is a pointless money burn, second means killing playerbase that will stay with the PS3.
Also I'm not sure you've noticed that CCP is not SquareEnix. CCP has one successful, long running game, while SquareEnix is a powerhouse with legendary reputation & monnies from Sony to back them up. They could literally release packed up turd and it would go in millions. It's not the case with CCP.
Protocake JR wrote:And the whole thing about 2-3 years without user feedback and bug reports? Easily remedied with PS4/PSN developer friendly patching/QA system. You want to know the hard truth?
A tiny player base's opinions are not suitable substitutes for competent developers.
I'm talking, CCP Shanghai needs a total overhaul. Just like Square Enix did. I love it when somebody says something is "Easily remedied with [SOMETHING THAT DOES NOT YET BEEN PROVED TO BE WORKING]". But sure, there is a problem though: CCP got special deal from Sony to do development and patching their way and it's not good enough? We played the game for 16 months and provided feedback - not good enough? Shanghai studio, which IIRC was created for this game, should be flushed because Mr Protobucket says so?
So basically the summary of what you say is: **** PS3 DUST514 and its userbase, **** Shanghai Studio, **** you all, I want to play this on PS4 and will doom & gloom until CCP breaks. Why don't you just go play Planetside2 when it's out and leave CCP be? One pale tryhard less.
