After some time in EVE (<3 free trails) I realized one way PVE could be implemented.
It would essentially be the same as cosmic anomalies (data sites & relic sites) (except for the occasional combat site, those are the only two I ever bothered with, only so much a lone Imicus can do)
A team gets sent in to an area where there are some buildings with salvage/information/other that they try and retrieve. There are some sort of enemies defending the area/trying to get the salvage before your team.
The match would end when all the salvage is taken, your team loses their clone reserves, or your commander decides to withdraw.
How it would work:
Salvage: The salvage would essentially be the same as in EVE, but with some changes, they would get:
- Blueprints (These would not always be a for a Dust 514 item, sometimes they are for EVE items. If it is a Dust item the it would be a BPC (because of the removal of BPOs from the market) and if it is an EVE item then whether it is a BPO or BPC is determined by the rules of EVE Blueprint salvage) (sometimes these will only be data sheets, and not a Blueprint)
- Short duration SP boosters (maybe a few hours, a day for a really good one)
- Skill books
- Gear (dropsuits, weapons, equipment, modules, etc.)
- Vehicle Modules
- Small turrets
- Vehicles
- Large turrets
- Resource Containers (holds Base Metals, Carbon Compounds, Aqueous Liquids, etc.) (will be good for when EVE and Dust players can start trading)
Enemies:
- Drone swarms
- NPC pirate faction ground troops
- Automated defenses (turrets n things)
Capturing Salvage: Once you've hacked it/broken it open/ whatever you did to get the salvage, you now need to get it somewhere for transport. How the items would behave:
What dropsuit can carry what and how it behaves is determined by frame size. (in order to not limit what salvage the players can get, all size frames can carry all salvage, but they do it differently)
Each suit can only carry a certain size container and still behave normally, so a light frame carrying a large container won't move very fast or be able to shoot.
Salvage and Dropsuit units: Each suit can only carry a certain size container and still behave normally, so a light frame carrying a large container won't move very fast or be able to shoot.
Each size frame has a specific amount of units for carrying extra gear and each size container takes up a certain number of units. As long as the suit does not go over it's units it can continue to carry without being hindered. If a dropsuit tries to carry a single item that uses more units than it has it can, but it will be hindered and will be unable to carry anything else. When a suit is hindered then they put away their gun and use their arms to hold the container if front of them.
What this means is that if a Heavy frame holds a Large container and tries to carry a medium container too then it will have to drop one of them. A frame can only go over its limit if it only holding a total of ONE container.
Units: (these are not affected by what equipment the dropsuit has and the contents of the containers)
Containers:
- Small - 1
- Medium - 2
- Large - 3
- Extra Large - Requires aerial retrieval
Dropsuits:
- Light: - 1
- Medium - 2
- Heavy - 4
Salvage sizes: List of what is what size:
Small:
- Blueprints
- SP Boosters
- Skill Books
Medium:
- Light weapons
- Sidearm weapons
- Equipment
- Modules
Large:
- Heavy weapons
- Dropsuits
- Small turrets
- Vehicle Modules
Extra Large: (these are an uncommon find)
- Vehicles
- Large turrets
- Resource containers
Transporting containers out: There would be a designated retrieval area that you take the containers to.
- There would be a cargo container in the retrieval area that you place the salvage containers inside of, once it's full (or you commander orders its retrieval) a Bolas-like vehicle arrives and takes it away. If there is still salvage in the area and your staying then it would arrive with an empty container, drop that, then pick up the full one.
- Extra Large: Hacking one of these causes its locking clamps (which prevent it from being air lifted) are released and a vehicle will come to retrieve it, but be careful, unlike the other transport, this one is close enough that the enemies might shoot it down
Deciding who gets what: Well that's all well and good, but what if you get salvage you don't want or need?
By default you will receive any salvage you personally carried to the cargo container, but after the match you are returned to the War Barge, now you can see the salvage other people earned and can trade your items for theirs, or can just straight up buy it with isk (but you cannot trade using any items that weren't earned that match)

I was thinking about ways that Dust could be made friendlier to new players (as in they don't get pub stomped by proto squads as soon as they're out of the academy) and I thought "What about PVE that everyone can be a part of?"
This game mode will help newberries because they won't have to go against 20+mill SP squads in full proto, so they can get used to the game more. Those same proto squads will be able to join into a battle of this and instead of stepping on the newberries, they'll be (hopefully) working with them, giving them pointers, and teaching them tips and tricks.
Players from all skill levels will be able to participate in this game type.
- Newberries can play this to get a handle on the game.
- Veterans can play this for the items.
- Pub stomping proto squads can play this... cuuuuuus........
- Squads can play this to practice coordination.
- Corp recruiters can play this and try to befriend the newberries to convince em to join their corp.
If a tier system (easy enemies, less/worse loot | hard enemies, more/better loot) is also implemented then people who really want a challenge or want to get better items can go into higher tier battles, while new players/people who just feel like playing this for a change can go into lower tiers. |

I remember seeing a thread asking for the ability to remove turrets from vehicle and (if memory serves) a Dev saying that we'll be able to do that, but the seat will go too.
Then I thought: LAV - turret = LAV with big open spot in the back (genius, I know)
So could the turret-less LAV then have that space taken up by transporting the containers?
So:
- Infantry clear out the compound
- hack salvage
- carry it outside
- LAVs drive into the compound
- infantry drop the salvage in the LAVs
- LAVs go to the cargo container and drop them off
- repeat steps 1-6 until all salvage is captured
Now, some of you might be thinking about Ecshon Autorez wrote:By default you will receive any salvage you personally carried to the cargo container, but after the match you are returned to the War Barge, now you can see the salvage other people earned and can trade your items for theirs, or can just straight up buy it with isk (but you cannot trade using any items that weren't earned that match) (well, now all of you are thinking about it) This would mean the LAV driver gets all the loot, right?
NO! When the LAV driver get's to the cargo container, instead of getting out and manually taking them out of the LAV and placing them into the cargo container, drones come out and pick them up off the LAV and carry them into the cargo container. |

Protos could go alone to make it a challenge. |
