Has anyone sat down and compared jump heights of scouts? I keep meanining to do this, but I have so many other things to test, I keep forgetting ths one :-/
It seems to me that, along with the slightly faster walk and sprint speed, minmatar scouts/light suits have a slightly higher jump height than gallente scouts.
In addition to some places where this simply gives convenience... this also makes certain strategies effective more effective for minmatar. For example, the "jump before attack" on things like knives, can be great, if your body clears the normal crosshair target height. But its been seeming to me lately, that airborne gallente scout feet tend to get caught in the incoming bullet hail more than my minmatar suit. |

It is my understanding that a higher walk/run speed = greater jump height which in turn makes the Minmatar light suit the more optimal choice when employing "bunny hopping"
Being a user of nova-knives i of course went for Minmatar but there are trade offs obviously with both suits. Gallente give you more high slots which means more damage mods for shotgunning or sniping. shotgunning though is probably where the indecision ends because the only suit that would be best for bunny-hopping is the Minmatar Light Frame.
is that adequate? |

interesting. I presumed it was linked to walking speed. Can anyone confirm or deny, that adding kincats for sprint speed, helps jump height as well?
it would rather make sense, since jump uses stamina.and would make me feel a bit better about sticking to gallente :)

It would be an accurate asumption in my opinion that raising your run/walk speed increases jump height. |

From my experience, and this is not been scientifically tested, the height does not change when you add kinetic catalyzer. It changes the "sprint speed." This gives you a further jump when jumping while running, but the jump will be the same distance if you are only walking. There is confusion that the kinetic catalyzer influences your movement speed in general, but it only works for sprinting. The sprint speed difference can give the illusion that the minmatar suit jumps higher, but I believe it's just farther.
As for jumping at a stand still, the suits feel the same to me. I do know that the suit will not jump at peak height if you don't have at least one white hash mark of stamina, and that you can bounce around all day with no stamina but not get any real height. If you want to test the different jumps, have a time recorder to see how long the jump last and a friend who tries to visually mark the average height. |

As a Gal gk0, I defiantly can jump higher than previous lvl Gal scout. went back to specific places in each maps. I now can get to, jump to areas where I could not prior. fwiw |

Waaaait.. so its NOT racial?
can you give us details on how you make your fittings different for your gk0? Do you add more stamina, and/or more kinetics to it?
It really wouldnt make sense to me if the gk.0 could jump higher than other gallente scout suits. It has the same walk speed, the same sprint speed.. surely that indicates that its "legs" are the same strength, when unaltered

So I experiented with a minmatar scout, with nothig, then 2xmilitia stamina, then 2xmilitia kincats. I couldnt see any *noticable* difference in height, whether standing, or running.
did you try the same thing though with the Gallente suit? because the two racial suits may have different jump heights but they also increase as the suit one uses becomes more advanced. so naturally the standard frame for both Minmatar and Gallente don't jump as high as the advanced or prototype. but that is a different subject than Min vs Gal. |

Interesting theory. Would be a neat undocumented bonus for advanced suits. However, it always seemed to me that my MILITIA minmatar light , could jump better than my gallente scout (basic), because I had trouble clearing certain rails in gallente, but not witih minmatar.
(The rails all around that circle thing, that are sunken, with stairs out of certain points, but rails around the other parts. ) (that 'socket' sometimes has an objective in the center area?)
Unfortunately, I didnt find one of those, that was conveniently near a supply depot, to nicely compare
