Rolled a new alt to try out some minmatar suits and my god how stupid are people in the academy and how is it that matchmaking seems to be broken there as well?
Im talking a full team of blues that are just wandering around aimlessly far away from the single objective on the map, I mean you would think a large A on your screen would draw your attention and that just maybe you should head over there and take or hold it and not run off to go chase moths as soon as Im done hacking the damn thing
I swear CCP needs to record an audio track of someone just yelling the most basic things and set it to repeat over and over while someone is in the academy since apparently it takes 20 minutes for 5 out of 30 people to finally understand whats going on

FPS muscle memory at its finest. New players often look for the similarities to other FPS titles as their basis of learning this massive experience. I think they go Keanu Reeves and just say "whoa" for the first few minutes...
Once a hack goes through, letter turns red and lady says "NULL cannon targeting MCC", some brain bulbs should come on...hopefully. |

Somehow none of them did that, they didnt really do anything but stand near where they spawned
The minnie suits were fun but even that one match in the academy left a horrible scar on my mind, I may have to see a professional for this and maybe they can offer some insight into how some people have zero sense of self preservation even in a video game |

not everyone actually tries to win in the academy. There are many things to test, tryout, or explore as a newbie. Many even have to get use to the controller setup. Blueberries can act odd, but those are special blueberries. |

You would think so but somehow this wasnt the case
Hell maybe games like CoD and Battlefield really have made into super complacent idiots since to capture something in those games you just have to go stand near it
Its just a horrible thing when you feel like you are more advanced than a bunch of people because you figured out that maybe you should run up to the glowing panel on the weird thing on your first try with no one around to demonstrate |

I guess starting the battle pointing in the wrong direction doesn't help, is always see 2 or 3 blueberries running straight to the red-line... i feel like shouting; Where the **** you going !!!

Last time an alt went into the academy 5 died instantly running into the redline. 6 more were pulling doughnuts in their 2 LAV's (They were on fire, full to capacity and no sign of activating reppers) I was taking the objective with a single blue. We saw nobody else the entire match. So glad I was in a Heavy and I specced into HMG's but it was an endless wall of red so it was totally hopeless.

The Academy is glorious. Started a nova knife alt. and in all honesty I could walk up to reds and stab them one by one without them doing much in the way of retaliation.
The learning curve for online play is aided in other games through single-player campaigns and combat tutorials, which don't exist here. Player-run training corps. like BSOTT and D-UNI are the best we've got, and even they can't recruit every single new player.
Not to mention every player won't like the idea of communicating with a team, which rules out quite a few FPS players who lone wolf all day when they realise squads have a significant advantage in all games, at least until some deathmatch free-for-all mode is implemented. (why not?) |

Not going near A as there might be a vet near it who might shoot me.
If CCP wants new players to learn Domination then give them a special, smaller map, with several protected clone and supply depots in their redzones (to learn hacking and resupply) in safety with a few turrets in the contested areas and no real means of avoiding reds once you have left your safe area.
Basically stick the null cannon on one of the old Chromosone Ambush maps. |
