I hear alot of hazing about the changes that have been proposed, that tanking and vehicles in general are just going to be ruined etc. I don't know **** about vehicles but I've used them, I've been in them, I know how hard AV anything hits. I hope that there are some changes to AV that go along with the changes to vehicles themselves but I really don't see what the problem is with these changes. I feel like vehicles shouldn't be just bigger, more expensive dropsuits, they're complimentary, they're a separate entity in infantry battles.
In real life tanks are pretty squishy, sure they can shrug off small arms fire but take 1 rocket to the treads and suddenly you're immobile, there's ways to counter a hit anywhere else but a direct hit with a big enough explosive and it's done. Yes in real life tanks don't have kinetic barriers or super future tech armor but the principle is still the same, if you're in the same area with a tank for too long eventually they're going to find a way to take you down, the reason being that you're a big target and you're more there to be a pest or a bully than to be a killing machine. Yes tanks can blow a hole in a wall, but I'm pretty sure you rarely see a tank aiming at a single person with their main cannon outside of movies, correct me if I'm wrong about that.
This is all opinion based, I don't claim to be anywhere near an expert on vehicles/AV in this game but I don't think that these changes are a bad thing at least for getting a good foundation in terms of vehicle warfare, feel free to tell me why I'm an idiot and if I have no idea what I'm talking about.
I will agree on some peoples' arguments on 2 points, I think that the small blaster turrets, especially if they're going to have limited ammo, should be much more powerful, it makes no sense to strap something like a really crappy assault rifle on to a vehicle, give me a 50 cal lol. Also AV grenades do need a nerf, I used to use them, I love em, but really they should be nerfed in proportion to whatever they're changing with the vehicle stats, I'm sure they have a plan for them but right now they're way too powerful and because it doesn't affect the infantry warfare I shouldn't hear any complaints on that, they should be effective but not quick vehicle killers (unless you time it well or something). Infantry and vehicle warfare are parallels, remember that |

Very reasonable.
My av gternade Nerf would be to reduce carry to 1.
And that small turrets should be effective. |

Nope... Tanks are actually increasingly being used as an anti-infantry role in modern ground combat. In some circumstances, the frequency of tank on tank battles are reduced by one side having air dominance (ie. Iraq invasion) -- in other circumstances, the opposition force lacks armored vehicles to oppose your tanks on the ground (ie. Syrian civil war, post-invasion Iraq, Afghanistan)
Both options leave your tanks available to engage enemy infantry - and yes, this includes the main gun.
Happy to source this if you'd like. |

Say that to the Abrams bro.
But yeah I get your point. |

Fair enough, I suppose if you have the firepower you might as well use it. Kinda brutal but I guess cloned soldiers don't care lol |

Think the main problem here is that vehicles don't have weak points they have hit points, Its not like you need to hit a tank on every panel of armor until a shot makes it through. Probably way too early to work this in but having separate HP for treads and hulls and the turrets themselves would probably be the best way to go, then you can make vehicles as beefy as you want because at that point it's not a battle of who has the biggest gun but who targets the right areas first, then you could find a way to take out a vehicle's legs and it could take time but forge gunners and swarmers might eventually take the tank down before it becomes operational again, that way the fight could take longer than a few seconds at least for infantry. |
