Hey guys. I just wanted to spend 5 minutes to tell you something. I'm sure you can spend 2 minutes of your time to read this.
I see a lot of anger on the Forums lately, about the lack of content in 1.5 and the most awaited updates being pushed back. I understand, it's really hard to stay positive when you have so many expectations about a game and things never seem to get better, but I urge you to keep a constructive approach, or at least to avoid being so pessimistic.
The "Doom and Gloom" really does not help anyone; i know sometimes we just need to vent our frustration for all the let-down, that's right, but don't be purposely distructive. Spreading and broadcasting your negative feelings on the Forums has no pros, it just emphasizes the problem and extends this "this game is broken" idea even to people who enjoy the game. Please, don't let new players absorb all this negativity.
We have all the rights to disagree with the CCP's choices and they said themselves that sometimes this is just what they need. But there is a right and a wrong way to do this. When you stop supporting your ideas with logic and reasonableness, you're really making it much harder for the developers. I can only imagine the amount of pressure they receive from these forums, but even though "pressure" can even be positive, free ranting is a direct punch in the face to people actually trying to make this game better.
That said, don't expect anything from 1.6. I'm sure there are good reasons if they CAN'T put the new content in the next patch, so please get over it. Yes, at this point I realize that many of us are scared about the future of DUST when PS4 is knocking at the door and the game is static and disappointing...
...BUT...
...I really want to believe that if 1.7 is going to be that AWESOME update we're waiting for, this could truely makes the difference between completely forgetting about the game and welcoming the PS4... or keeping a positive feel of a game we used to love which is finally growing.
DUST has some magic. This is the game's strenght. Some of us fell to this power and it seems like we can't really quit, even if our brains are blowing up because of the infinte amount of rage-inducing problems this game has.
It is a unique game, there are many (better) alternatives, speaking of FPS games, but none of them is a TRUE replacement for it.
For these reasons, if CCP releases something amazing as soon as PS4 starts to invade the world (remember that many people won't buy a PS4 on Day1, Christmas is right behind the corner and some customers will wait further for improved models to be released, before getting one), I'm sure many of us will be back.
There will be times when we will miss playing DUST and, if when we come back we find something great and that the game is growing FASTER than it is right now, we're going to stay.
I would like to give CCP more time, but unfortunately at this point we have to be realistic about the PS4, so I think this is their great chance (1.7) to release the bomb. I will be supporting their efforts (actually at a first glance I hate the upcoming vehicles changes, because they seem to be even weaker than now, but this is another story) until then. Yes, I'm frustrated because this game has so many issues, but if it's got a chance and this chance requires us to stay positive, creative and to keep giving our feedback about what we want from this game and from the next "big" update, I can do it. I don't ask you to do the same, but I'm sure you can avoid being negative and distructive, at least.
The rest is really up to CCP.
Thank you. |
