Surely, SURELY, there must be a better way to deploy vehicles. Why can't they just materialise like when they're recalled? I limit myself to losing 5 dropships daily (which probably adds up to 4 mill ISK), and it is guaranteed that an RDV will be the cause of one of my dropship's death. Whether it's a friendly calling a vehicle in front of me or an enemy calling in a vehicle as I'm dropping off troops, their unpredictable movement, ridiculous speed (why can't we get those ships?) and cloaks make them invisible OHKO missiles of doom and despair.
Even the droning sound is too late and basically sounds the death knell for my dropship, peacefully hovering and raining chaos on the enemies, because even if I redirect all power to my thrusters I can't gain enough height fast enough.
I'm not the best slayer on the ground, and I won't claim to be one of the best pilots either, but I make sure I'm using my brain to make up for lack of skill. Situational awareness something I pride myself on, and making use of my understanding of how the battle is progressing can sometimes aid my team. But no matter how aware and alert I am of the surroundings I am always caught off guard by those bloody RDVs.
Like I mentioned above, I would prefer for vehicles to just materialise. Breaks logic? Well until something fixes the logic of those RDVs flying around the battlefield with impunity, I'll tolerate the plot hole in any fan fiction involving vehicle deployment.
Another option is to introduce installations where people can call in vehicles, and essentially create set vehicle spawn points. I'm thinking a giant uplink for vehicles.
Or, make RDV deployment consistent. Sometimes they take 20 seconds to drop a vehicle, sometimes 5. Sometimes they drop the vehicle gently, other times from heights which strip the vehicle of its shields. And whilst vastly improved from Chromosome, I'd love a few more tweaks to their AI.
One particular suggestion that appeals to me is to reintroduce two RDVs which can be deploying vehicles at the same time However, one RDV only services the area behind a single team's redline. The other services the rest of the map.
Let's call one the Spawn RDV (S) and the other the Battlefield RDV (B).
S remains the same as RDVs are right now, quick and reckless deployments.
The B RDV, though, undergoes some changes.
1. Lowered speeds 2. Uncloaked 3. To make up for being uncloaked and slow speeds, the B RDV should have double to triple the S RDVs HP. 4. The vehicle under the RDV should be protected by the RDVs shields.
This should ensure the skies remain safe not only for dropships but also for future aerial vehicles, and vehicles people call in from the battlefield won't be accidentally kamikazed by pilots, friendly or enemy.

I know how stupid RDVs are so I killed a gallente assault dropship (forget what they're called) by calling in a LAV lmao. Didn't even have time to react, instantly went from full to zero.

I hate it when they just sit there holding your items like big bulls eyes, hovering in one spot, not dropping the item and taking shots from rail guns, forges and missiles until your ordered is cancelled by your opponent. I try to go off grid and call behind some type of obstacle as to hide from counters just incase. What they also need since your speaking about calls and vehicles .. is a way people can't run up and hijack your vehicle once the item is dropped. You know once they get into that driver seat, that they are not leaving. They should give us a instant recall on our weapons selection toggle. |

RDVs, they need AI turrets mounted on them and be allowed to hunt us... |
