According to Game Informer, the PS4 won't support Blue Tooth nor USB voice chat on release.
Really? That might make the all important squad chat difficult to actually use. The PS3 wireless will be supported but not on launch day and that will upset some BF4 fans that I know (not included in that list myself).
http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2013/10/10/planning-on-using-an-existing-headset-with-a-ps4-read-this.aspx
No word on when they will be supported specifically but a post launch patch/update will be required.
Xbone also has some limitations on headset use, launch day being by MS as well.
Must be harder than I thought or much lower on both of their priority lists. |

@GHOSTLY ANNIHILATOR The one that is provided with the PS4 is a mono ear bud and mic combo.
No blue tooth or USB headset will work, even the PS3 headset. My personal reaction was because my headset uses the optical connecter but also needs the USB for the actual chat is connected.
@Michael Arck The fact that DUST is not on the PS4 for a while is a blessing in our case. Buying a new PS4 to play any game that uses voice chat and finding out that your several hundred dollar headset won't work is disappointing. And might be part of the reason that DUST will be skipping the PS4 initially. Although that is unlikely. More likely it is because of simple resource constraints. |

Hilmar has stated that Dust is not going to PS4 anytime soon. He would rather have a failing product on a piece of hardware that cannot support it, with a fanbase that is growing smaller every day.
He truly believes that this is the best move for his company. So who are we to argue? |

Whatever you have to tell yourself to justify spending more on your headset than your console.
I use a 10 dollar headset that was on sale for 5. Guess what? loud and clear.
You sound like one of those people who get those 200$ cables and claim that they're better when they're the same 5$ worth of copper and plastic that my cheapass cables are with a fancier name. |

I'm not sure if anyone is aware of this, but Sony said that they have an alternative to the PS4s inability to run PS3 games, they said that by using Gakai digital PS3 games can run on the PS4 without any native abilities on the system, so pretty much cloud.
Only thing is, internet connection could affect the performance of any game and it also makes a game that was offline, online all the time. Now, they haven't really explained this in great detail, and they haven't mentioned any games like Dust or any other digital PS3 game with an online mode, but from Sony has said, it sounds like Dust on PS4 could be a possibility. |

Gaikai and all services that "stream" games are a joke.
If you want to see how bad it is, go use OnLive. Basically the same thing. |

Jeez.... All these talks of DUST for PS 4 is such childish babble. Look around. There is no product that CCP can offer that is a 'new generation' quality. Right now there is a f2p ailing game on an old platform with a waning competition - all big developers are looking at PS4 as a future podium. While that's the case, Dust can remain relevant on the 'second league' older platform - PS3.
If CCP made Dust for PS 4, it would be an obviously and grossly underperforming game compared to everything else that will be avaliable - that would be terrible for the game's image which is already lackluster. Now, on the other hand, I don't think Sony is too excited to welcom Dust to PS4 with arms wide open, and again for the same reason - showcasing weak games on release will make PS 4 seem like a second rate console. |

I forgot that thing even existed, hows it doing?
On paper the idea sounds pretty solid, I'm pretty sure Sony could make it work for single player games, but I don't think online games would hold too well on a "Cloud" . |

Real?!
Sad to hear, it potential, but it seemed like one of those ideas that was ahead of it's time, it might have fared better if it was launched around this time, since everyone is now getting on the "Cloudgaming-train" . Hopefully MS and Sony don't drop the idea like some cheap gimmick, Sony has an annoying tendency to drop support on things that don't work out immediately. |

Well in regards to ccp not going to ps4 I think the headsets not being supported right away have nothing to do with it. Ps3 having a larger install base and ccp trying to optimize the game for ps3 so there isn't a gap in playability between the two systems is more likely. Once dust is up to a certain standards and can draw in as many players as a free to play AAA shooter should it could make its way to ps4. Dust made a bad first impression and releasing on ps4 on launch isn't going to give it the second chance it needs.

You greatly over estimate the next generation. Did you know that PS4 is running games at 900 dpi HD while the XBOX1 is running them at 700 dpi. The Nintendo Wii U has simpler graphics but it is running games at 1080 dpi out the gate but the new more powerful systems are not.
Also have you looked at the difference between PS3 games today and the next gen games? The difference is very miniscule. Unfortunately I'm a sucker for the latest console already owning a Wii U, and getting a PS4 but I know from experience that adopting to the newest consoles usually requires patience and low expectations.
Dust 514 has it's flaws but for a free to play game it's not bad at all, especially when you are a team player and enjoy team/squad based tactical style combat. |

I was only observing that it was funny to contemplate the possibility, not stating that it was the case.
I doubt if anyone, including all of CCP, knows what is going on in the minds running DUST.

Has it been shut down yet? I don't know. I tried it before and it was atrocious.
If you knew how bad it was, you would be downright offended that it was the focus of next-gen consoles. Big companies are basically assuming that the average gamer is too stupid to feel the massive input delay on every game. They want to use that as an excuse to cheap out on the compatibility software, and stop physical disc distribution completely.
I tell you now, that is one corner that CANNOT be cut. |
