So I've been playing a lot matches, ranking 1st more on the leaderboard, and have been accumulating a lot of SP.
Over my time in Dust 514 I've generally mained as a Caldari Logi, and I love it!
My biggest goal is to finally get to level 5 Logistics... but... I have overtime realized just how expensive running a level 5 Logi Dropsuit will be... and while I generally am getting richer with ISK... It'll still cost an arm and a leg to even use one of these fittings.
So this is my question to other mercenaries:
I nearly have enough SP to finally get to my goal and be able to use level 5 Logi Dropsuits, but should I wait and put it off and balance myself more? Like put some of the SP towards the better Nnite INjectors, Drop Uplinks, Hacking Systems, Armor HEaler (Sorry I forgot the term for them), etc.
Any helpful response and advice is appreciated!
Thanks! |

Yes, it depends. You should upgrade your selected equipment, but not necessarily all of them. If you play objective based games, I would go for good Uplinks and Nanohives. Some likes the Scanner, some prefer Remote Explosives... but you don't need ALL this stuff, especially if you're grinding precious SP and you can't wait to play with a better suit and enjoy sensible results.
Running a prototype suit will be very expensive, yes, but this does not prevent you to skill into it and slowly build your best fitting. No one forces you to use it, even if unlocked.
Before you run proto, I really recommend you to unlock prototype modules (Complex Shield Extenders = number 1 priority) as well and build a very solid suit. Your core skills should be trained too, so you can really use all your suit's potential.
Until then, run your ADV or STD suit as you improve your general gameplay and build your powerful prototype suit in the background. Prototype and enhanced modules and equipment will massively improve those suits as well, along your Skills!

Also keep in mind that LVL 5 on your logi dropsuit gives you an increase on your passive stats that translates to your STD and ADV suits as well. So, you may not be able to afford running proto all the time but you will still benefit from skilling into your drop suit. Plus that 1.2 mil from going from 4 to 5 in your racial logi is a pain in the ass to save up. Personally I'd get it out of the way. That's just my opinion though.
Good luck on whatever you choose!
edit: someone posted above me about getting your modules up. This is also a good option. The longer you survive the less money you'll be spending in the long run. |

In my opinion, go suit first because it's probably the most tedious thing to get to lvl 5
Than go for your equipment because for the most part it will be a few days to upgrade the equipment. |

Thank you for your suggestions! I will definitely be getting the level 5 Logo upgrade out of the way! I'll probably set it as my favorite to wear itin my Merc Quarters, but won't run it into battle until I'm able to better upgrade all of my equipment!
Again thank you very much! And good luck to any and all of your endeavors. |

No shame in that. Many of us wear our proto suits for vanity and to look like bad asses in the warbarge. |

I'd say as very rough estimate you should have a proto suit around the 10M SP mark. |

Yeah...unlock your proto suit, but stay using advanced suits until you get most of your core skills to level 4, and most of your equioment that you use to level 3 or 4.
For instance, at level 3 nanohives you can use the k-2/x-3 which is so much better for ammo supply, but level 4 is if you use nanohives regularly and want the bonus of the repair nanohive.
level 3 is where most of the best equipment is. Especially the scanner. And make sure to also have a weapon at proficiency 3 at least. |

Unless you play PC I wouldn't bother skilling into proto suits. You should probably get the equipment you use (your 'armor healer' etc) to advanced if it isn't already, and put most of your SP into things that give you more bang for your buck when using advanced suits (things like core skills, shield and armour skills, weapons skills - proficiency 5 on your primary weapon is essential, even for a logi). |

Once you have these things, THEN you can start focusing on a good proto fit. Without them, you're just going to waste money using proto.
Most to all of my core skills and equipment are at least level 3. And while my light weapon skill is level 5, I don't use the Duvolle Assault Rifle due to the fact most, if not all of my War Points, come from Healing, Reviving, and Hacking. I've gone matches where I haven't killed anyone and still ranked first on the leaderboard, so Weapon Proficiency isn't my biggest concern at the moment. |

I won't suggest one thing over the other, but keep in mind that you also get bonuses for that lvl 5 that will apply to the lower tier suits, so while you may not run proto all the time, the lower suits will also be better. I would keep this in mind when deciding as well. |

The first few levels of weapon proficiency are so ludicrously cheap in SP terms that you really have to get them if you already have operation 5. Even if you only use your AR for self defence that extra 9% damage will save your life many times over. I suppose I can see that a pure support logi might not prioritize proficiency 4 and 5, but they're still very worthwhile for higher SP players. |

My recommendation, and what I also did is:
Get your Armor and Shields Upgrades/Exteders maxed first, then your Engineering and Electronics to Lv.2 or Lv.3. If you have more than spare CPU and PG then fix your way up to your Nanohives, Repair Tools, Injectors, Uplinks, or whatever your choice is.
Once you can't fit anything more with these prerequisites I would definitely go for PRO. |
