Dear CCP,
I know you meant well. I know your minor SP reward for daily login was meant to keep me interested in the game, to keep me engaged and aware of DUST's existence, to get me to retain it in my head as something I'm "currently playing." I know you're trying hard to keep DUST alive and relevant, a current going concern rather than a doomed or, alternatively, deeply ailing project that may "be great in ten years."
I'm afraid, at least in my case, it's backfired, hard.
Whether your other players' psychology works like mine, I do not know, but I, personally, have a profound aversion to doing something "fun" when it starts to feel like work. When I start to think, "Welp, time to sit through the minute and a half loading time so I can collect my 7k SP," that is the time when my imp of the perverse pops up and I start to resent it. I resent that I have to spend time loading up something I have no intention of playing that day, merely to prove that I'm still thinking about it.
Resenting it makes me want to play it less. Wanting to play it less makes me more reluctant to log in and claim my little daily prize, and makes me resent having to do so more. Skipping a day resets the prize, but also takes the pressure off-- I no longer feel obliged to treat your game like a chore (take out the trash, take out the recycling, log into DUST, clean the cat box). All of a sudden, it's a game again.
This is a relief. However, if I then play for three or four days running, the reward for logging in starts looking all tasty and obligatory again.
It's not an SP reward I want to be logging into DUST for. The only reason I want to log into DUST is to play your damn game!
You've got a feature that is making me resent your game. Please reconsider. |

I wholeheartedly agree. Add content that make me feel like playing instead of this virtual carrot system. It's also not fair for people who might not even be near their PS3 on consecutive days. Why not a consecutive hour bonus for people that don't play often but as much as they can when they do? I know I'm not the only weekend warrior on here. |

I honestly think it shouldn't punish players for not being able to get online one day.
For instance, a better system would be one where it didn't give you increased sp per day, but a static amount of sp. That way it doesn't force you to keep logging in just to maintain it, but still benefits players that do happen to log in every day. |

I'm kinda back and forth on it. I like the free SP, and it does get me to log in and play, but mostly because I'll cap out tonight or tomorrow and need everything extra I can get, so I feel kinda obligated to do it. Someone in an earlier thread suggestedd that it would be better to make the bonus roll back = one increment per day missed, rather than a full reset to base level, which might decrease the urgency and pressure that it currently creates. I haven't missed a day since its institution. I think I'm at, what, 37, 38 days straight?
On that note, I think a bigger "carrot" or two might make some people feel a little better, as well. 12k, 15k, even 20k bonus for logging in for 7 or 10 days straight, 100-200k for 30 days, hell, a few million for a year! If someone is that hardcore/crazy, reward 'em for it. |

I like this idea but also like the free SP. Why not just switch DUST over to EVE skill system. No SP grinding everyday, just buy the book at an absurd price and set it to train. Oh but that would be much to easy :) |
