<3000 players at peak hours, recently, but the core group of maybe 1500 has been here through it all. We stuck through the TAR, (uprising in general...lol 1.0/1.4), flaylock spam, contact nades, tanks that went 50:0 every battle, av nades that OHK tanks....the list goes on. We stuck through some awesome games. We stuck through it all not because of what dust IS, but what it will be. The complaints we have now (balance, network issues, content, graphics, etc) can all be fixed with time and resources, but the core concept is truly unique. The world has been awaiting a game like this for years and only CCP had the balls to try it. One day, maybe 3 or 5 years down the road, Dust will be the most popular shooter on the ps4- it will be what we saw in the 2011 E3 trailor- the game we are waiting for. I guess I'm a fan boi, to an extent (i do have many many problems with dust), but the nerdy guy in highschool usually becomes a CEO and the awkward girl becomes Emma Watson status when she turns 22.
I'm not saying "dont quit, it'll get better". I'm saying "leave if you aren't having fun, but in 5 years, i'll have 100,000,000 SP (february to now and i have 20 mil) and dust will be more popular than eve."
Looking forward to 1.6 and 1.5 was a necessary and long awaited update. Good work, thus far, ccp. minor bugs in 1.5, but good job. let's see the new AV stats, now!
problem is the game is discouraging new players to stay due to the "beta not in beta" syndrome. game has many problems and there is currently no way to reallocate SP to test out stuff. and dont tell me there are militia items, militia items are just a starting point that you grow out pretty fast after a few games and you cant really get a conclusion on militia items, they dont really represent the possible performance of certain weapon+suit combinations. just compare the PLC STD/ADV/PROTO advancement to e.g. MD or AR advancement, huge difference. |

You really are missing the point of dust and how CCP conceptualise their games. Sure you may not be a role player, but CCP have RPG roots. Your character is on a journey of self improvement, you learn new skills and get better with your fittings over time. Respecs destroy that. Sure, reply with, "This is a game not RL", but CCP don't see it like that. Case in point, EvE is Real campaign! I agree there is a NPE and retention issue, but CCP are aware of this and working on it. You really do like the "beta not in beta" label, get over it already, jeez! actually you are missing the point.
first of all, I never mentioned respecs but reallocation. this can be done in many ways with drawbacks where the player has to work for it which also can be, like you said, a journey and a form of character advancement.
additionally EVE is not Dust. EVE is a MMORPG, Dust is (currently) a F2P console lobby shooter. your Dust+Eve arguments do not work out well, if you want to use this as argument then both games need to have the same option of character advancement and trading but they dont have it. SP gain in EVE is purely passive. In EVE you can just create a new account, pay for it and get 2 characters with the stuff you want or you simply buy a character from another player. buying a new character does not really work out in dust yet, how are you going to pay or transerf it? creating a new account is also very inefficient, the passive gain is too low to really benefit from it. additionally EVE does not suffer from bugs and lack of basic content.
and last the playercount at primetime is decreasing by ~500 per month because this game, as I said, suffers from still being beta.
in short: you might aswell talk to a brick wall if you dont see it, the brick wall atleast shares your mindset. |

EVE is a MMORPG, Dust is (currently) a F2P console lobby shooter. your Dust+Eve arguments do not work out well, if you want to use this as argument then both games need to have the same option of character advancement and trading but they dont have it which automatically invalidates what you said. SP gain in EVE is purely passive. In EVE you can just create a new account, pay for it and get 2 characters with the stuff you want or you simply buy a character from another player. buying a new character does not really work out in dust yet, how are you going to raise a new character in dust with the current system, how are you gonna pay or transerf it? creating a new account is also very inefficient, the passive gain is too low to really benefit from it. this just does not work in Dust. additionally in EVE if you are unhappy, you can just relax for a month or two and do something else, then come back and use the SP on something new, in Dust you have to play otherwise you gain low amounts of SP. beside that, EVE does not suffer from bugs and lack of basic content.
and last the playercount at primetime is decreasing by ~500 per month because this game, as I said, suffers from still being beta. 500 players per month basically agree with me.
Dude, you really need to stop playing, if you already haven't, and just leave the forums. Sure I can be accused of spouting the same fanboi rhetoric, but jeez man you are not helping the advancement of dust with your rhetoric either. As for respec/reallocation of SP, you jump between the two "methods" daily, can you blame me for being confused? Your perception of beta isn't the same for everyone. I do see the game as being in beta, but not the way you think.
I am not jumping, as a die hard fan I am supporting anything that helps to keep the playerbase... the playercount declines steadily and if it does not stop only those die hard fans of new eden will be left but I doubt they will be enough to fund this project. do you really want this to happen?
anyway I am rather for a reallocation system that needs some time/work/input from the player but a complete respec would do it too although it would be just a lazy fix.
and regarding the beta definition you are right:
Quote:beta version (plural beta versions)
(computing, technology) A development status given to a program or application that contains most of the major features, but is not yet complete. according to that you can even argue that the game is not even beta

Never happened outside of your over-active tanker imagination (with an emphasis in fictional stories or events). And I doubt Dust will make it another 5 years, PS4 coming out will give it a huge hit, and a year down the road they may even shut-down the servers console-side. I think 2 years from this date, Dust will be no more... unless they port to PS4 and really overhaul the game and it's development process. AV nades used to have a glitch that would one-hit kill any vehilce. It was all the adv. ones if I remember correctly. Lasted for about 2 days, then went away Shows what you know. Stay the **** out of any convo about vehicles, as all you want them to be is slightly larger heavies. Wow 2 days... LOL. That really doesn't count TBH. I've been playing the game for over a year, and I guessed I missed that small window (if true) with AV nades. Must have been on vacation or not spending my entire life scouring the forums looking for glitches that only lasted 48 hours . Tank scrub mentions it like it was some kind of huge deal, which obviously it was not. It would have been if it had lasted for weeks and everybody knew about it. And I will continue to apply my wisdom on vehicle balance, thank you very much. Somebody has to keep you tank/vehicle scrubs in check. Cause if it was up to you guys, tanks would be unstoppable aside from 15 out of 16 players using superior tactics, perfectly converged teamwork and 100% proto AV to get rid of one militia tank. /\ lol what trash. you think you have wisdom with your one-sided argument? have you ever drove a tank blueberry? i have 7 mill into tanks alone and i still get solod by AVers. i have proto AV aswell and ima say, i LOVE it. its like GOD mode. all you gotta do is run dampeners and dam mods and you can 2hk a tank without any problems. i feel bad for you tankers left so ima root for you guys till you get a buff. another average player with no clue... even properly fit armor tank can absorb 6 proto swarm volleys and move on. in short you are a terrible tank driver. |
