If DUST can't measure up to EVE without dumbing it down i'm ready to stand back and watch it die. Based on our experiences so far, negative and positive, with this crazy endeavour, my money(which i'm not spending on DUST anymore) says CCP is actually going to pull it off. There's still a lot of critical work to do, and CCP did seriously drop the ball on DUST but i think they've managed to get their heads back in the game. So while they can't have my money, they can certainly have my time and effort.

Besides transformers, which I played with my kid, this is really the only online fps I have ever gotten into. I am the noob's noob. Did try to play COD and BF3, but didn't have patience to stick with them. I guess for an old guy, dust is easier because it's not who see who first wins. That being said, the flaws really don't stick out to me. I have no other games to compare it to. All I know is that have a lot of fun playing it and even more fun reading these forums. I guess ignorance is bliss.

I'm staying with it for a while; I want to see where this goes. Not a the best FPS out there by a long shot but they are trying some innovative things and I think CCP will turn this have this running pretty well at some point. It will never be CoD version xxx or some such. I suspect it will be differnt and in the world of short half-life console games that's a good thing.

"The Emperor is naked!" Questionable (AKA confusing, game-breaking, feedback-ignoring, wanton) decisions get you nowhere and loyalty simply makes it worse... anyways that only matters, or makes things worse, if you keep buying AUR and funding their questionable decisions, but my guess is you might have bought a Merc Pack or two that's why your loyalty is unwavering there's simply NOTHING to lose...

CCP has a history of dreaming big, attacking with the ferocity of their Viking heritage and then taking an arrow to the knee. I respect them for that. I'm still irritated over the failure of Incarna, that they didn't proceed with avatar based exploration and that they can't seem to deliver racial assets to DUST in anything resembling a timely manner. I love the New Eden IP and hope I can be a citizen of the cluster for a long time and see new and wondrous things. I also love that the distance between player and developer is so short. Being able to communicate with so many of them in such a personal manner is one of their greatest assets.

Nobody circles the wagons like the buffalo bills:) I do like the running and gunning. Hopefully dusts lasts awhile. If not I'll just have to find something else. Thanks for the suggestions

CCP has made questionable decisions before. We, the players, usually get them straightened out. It is the fact that CCP has done stupid things in the past, and then changed course due to player feedback, that makes EVE players tend to have faith in them. Google Jita riots if you want an example.
