What about that one map where one side's distance between their MCC and the objective consists of this:
Hills, then cover in the form of buildings, then the objective which has 2 railgun installations conveniently placed overlooking the area which the enemy team will be approaching from
Whilst the other team has this between their MCC and the objective:
300m of open space with NO cover.
I am SICK of not being able to get to the objective just because the other team got there first. You literally cannot approach the objective behind cover within 150m.
You have to run out in the open and somehow NOT get killed by the ENTIRE enemy team before you get to the objective.
The maps are so badly designed that you CANNOT approach the objective behind cover within 150m of the objective.
Why does one team have the objective placed CLOSER to their MCC WITHOUT open ground to run across whilst the other team is faced with 2 railgun installations, 300m of open space and NO COVER.
Oh and guess what? I just joined a game, instant redline. On my team was:
Burgerzzetf whatever the **** that stupid corp name is UPS Maphia
whilst the other team had 16 randoms.
hmmmmmm three corps against randoms? That's going to be good for the newbies to get some practice in! Glad to see 1.5 improved the matchmaking!
Fix the maps they are terrible, all domination does is produce stalemates where you don't stand a fighting chance of getting to the objective purely because you have to cross a couple hundred metres of open ground and the enemy team got there before you. |

Domination is fun. Having everyone run towards a single spot on the map means that I get more kills with my MD. |

I'd say 1 in 10 domination matches is actually a good fight. Usually it's just whoever gets to the objective and spams the most uplinks first wins. Most domination games are decided within the first minute. |

not when you can't get to the objective.
Im on about the map where A is in the middle of the map, that one is ******* horrible.
The one before with the installations is that map with hundreds of mountains, a snipers paradise whilst the whole map is practically a fishbowl. |

I know what you mean about that map that expanse with no cover is huge, domination is my favourite game mode though. I like the focus, most of my best (and closest) matches have been domination. |

I think the problem with DOM is that the maps they create are generally balanced and created for Skirmish and the domination versions really feel like an afterthought. |

This is more a problem with the maps then the game mode.
Ideally each game mode would have a unique map selection, as not all maps are interchangable balance wise for game modes.

I particularly like the matches where my team has about 3/4 armor on the MCC whilst the reds are still pushing almost all shields, and then we somehow manage to cap the objective and win the game.

Well whoever wins doesn't detract from it being a good fight. Barely losing would still be fun for me, it's only when you're absolutely dominated that you feel disgusted. I'd say more like half the games are a pubstomp, and the other half is pretty decent. Certainly, when I'm in a squad, I'm not always with squads and most likely against other squads, but I haven't played 1.5 yet so can't speak for that.
And certainly the uplink spam helps but I've noticed my flux grenades do a good job of clearing swaths of badly placed ones. I'm devising a scanner + flux + RE build to clear uplinks and although the REs are hard to detonate because of the spawn invisibility, still pretty fun to use. |

I hate going to other games as examples but battlefield's domination game mode which is a small version of their Conquest (our skirmish) but without vehicles. This mode takes their large maps, and shrinks them to essentially CQC maps.
Now, the biggest problem with some of the maps from BF3 were that they just shrunk the maps, and didn't do any other balancing to them. Now with BF4 the dom maps are smaller and completely different. There is more cover added, more ladders, more places to hide and duck behind. There is cover everywhere. There's boxes, barricades, etc.
Our domination modes can be based on the maps we have now but need to be balanced in a unique way other than "hey the red line is different, there's only one point, good luck." |

Matchmaking is still a bit...strange? I think it takes into account the total SP on a side and the total SP on the other side, so it is normal that you find yourself in strange situations.
I'll set an example:
I have 20 mln SP, and decide to join a Domination. If the other team is made up by 5 mln SP merc, I'll find myself alone against 4 of them. But, yeah, I'm not really sure about it right now. |

I love Domination, but if the other team gets there first and I still have 200m to go and the only LAV on my team won't take passengers then I'm switching over to my militia fit. |

Most domination games are decided within the first minute. You should check out this thread on Using Radiation Zones to Curtail Drop Uplink Use. I think it's a novel way to recondition but not force players to discontinue uplink spam of objectives. Plus it creates a system for highly dynamic play. |

Dom is pretty bad, most maps feel as they weren't made to accommodate ANY other mode besides skirmish and all other modes after are mere afterthoughts while the devs try to work with what they got but fail ,so we get a bad modes. The mode is less about domination and more about submission of ,the enemey team,a team that will eventfully not give a **** anymore and stop advancing because of how good of a vic grip the enemy team has on the point .Just uplinlk spam and dog pile surrounding the point while the main forces pushes the opposing force back into the red line from which it came, GG wait 20mins til the game ends, while you watch blues get obliterated by protos and tanks as they drop out of the MCC.
I don't think their a way to fix this mode when the grand strategy is to pile a single point, you might as well burn this mode to the ground and build a completely new mode , a better made mode from the ashes with the same name if you really wanted to fix Dom.link
A strange game.
The only winning move is
not to play.

Some maps are stupid. Like the one that has the objective under the two pipes. So aggervating. And some have supply depots at the ground base, while the other side does not. Makes no sense. But whatever.
But poor matchmaking and q sync'n try hards are the rest of the problem.

Considering how this actually was the case (domination was added as a game mode after most of the maps were, at least initially, designed, I find it kind of funny.
Although with the exception of Manu's peak, I find all the dom maps pretty even. |
