Am I the only one that's remotely excited that there is a true EP now? I mean Wolfman doesn't have to pull double duty now so we can get all the tanks. .. possibly even balance in them. |

I think OP is referring to this.
CCP Rogue wrote: Hi everyone!
My name is Jean-Charles Gaudechon and I have the immense privilege of being the new Executive Producer of DUST 514. I'd like to briefly introduce myself and say a few words about the fantastic task at hand.
I've been making games for about twelve years, and most recently MMOs. Making deep and meaningful online experiences has become my specialty, with a recent strong emphasis on first-person shooters. That said, I enjoy many different genres, and am currently having a blast with the early build of a highly classified Space Program on Steam and protecting a bad-ass little girl from zombies on PS3. But, like many of you, I often default back to a few online games that give me exactly what I want. My favorite games seem to be built on strong fiction, supported by tight gameplay mechanics, and a player-driven economy.
With DUST 514, my mission is to give you the most intense and engaging experience possible for a free-to-play online multiplayer shooter in the EVE Universe. This requires focusing primarily on the core gameplay, but also on a deep and rewarding link to EVE Online and everything that comes with it: the incredibly immersive fiction, sandbox design, best-in-class player-driven economy, and much more. This is where DUST 514 differentiates itself completely from all other shooters and is why I love the game. Features such as player trade, valuable resources transferable and useable between DUST and EVE, and new game modes that capture the sandbox nature of our game, are all building blocks towards that vision. We will be revealing more details at EVE Vegas later this month, followed by in-depth articles, developer blogs, and more.
Another very important aspect of my mission is to keep listening to you, our players, and of course the Council of Planetary Management. CCP has an amazing track record of bonding with its community and I have every intention of keeping this true for DUST 514.
Finally, I need to give all the kudos I can to the development team in Shanghai. Every woman and man in this team pushed extremely hard to make DUST 514 a reality, and today they are even more motivated to keep our game vibrant and growing on a daily basis. It is a great honor for me to join this team and continue building on what has been done so far.
I can promise you that the team and I will take DUST 514 as far as we can and try to impress you with each and every new release. Be ready for a lot more DUST 514 action in the foreseeable future.
A pleasure to serve you!

CCP Rouge, huh? Let the rogue/rouge confusion commence! Note that his name is, in fact, synonymous with a type of cosmetics...I'm guessing from his actual name that he intends it as the French for "red".
EDIT: Also, yes, this is very good news. |

Good news? Mmm, I guess it's good news to have a driver at the wheel. Honestly, I'm more interested in that classified steam project because at this point, you could literally add a suit made of turds into dust and it would be AMAZING! Not to diminish any work he might do to improve the game but we're pretty much at the bottom. |

EPs are more of conductors of an orchestra, while members of the orchestra knows their expertise well but the conductor makes the best use of those people. None the less this should be a good step in getting things moving faster now, I look forward to a meeting with him. |

That's fine, two years of innovation and expansion isx exactly what is needed. Look at CCP Fozzie, reinvented the game, now headed of to Riot games. |

It appears they are looking to thread the needle between FPS and MMO. Pull the more positive aspects of both and mitigate the traps those style of games can generate.
Again...this is what brought me to the game. As some one noted earlier "Being better by being different" as opposed to just trying to top the FOTM triple A shooter or MMO with more of the same.
Glad to have CCP Rouge onboard. |

If they try to compete with other shooters on their level they will fail. It's one reason why EVE has survived and most other MMOs have not, don't try to beat the top dogs, be something different and be the best at what you do. I wish Rogue the best of luck, I don't care how long making this game what it needs to be takes, as long as we're always moving in the right direction...... so how about that PVE? |

Set it to 40. Take a day and relearn 'drag and drop', collect tears.
Cosgar I'd quote you too But I'm on my phone: he's French so his dedication level is almost that of the Germans; far above us pig-headed ADD Americans.
I agree that we shouldn't be getting so excited yet but it is at least nice to have a major gap filled... for now. |
