Seems like the QQ flavor of the week is protos pubstomping people (not like this is anything new, but it's all over the forums lately, probably because more casual players are starting to get enough SP).
As more people reach their prototype suits, and learn how to spec/build their fittings to be useful in battle, will the issue of pubstomping cease to be a significant problem? How do you all think CCP can manage the growing prototype population, especially as new players will be encountering them more and more? Does Scotty split the population between high SP and low SP?
I wonder what the current SP trend is (as in what percentage of players have certain levels of SP). Does anyone have any data?

The high cost of protosuits will prevent a lot of people from running them 24/7. |

Yeah, i think the economy is the next nerf target. CCP is on the look out for isk sinks to help keep the PC Lords and Proto Pubstompers from getting Space Rich and making all the eve pilots jealous. Ground pounders arent supposed to be rich. |

I've seen it mentioned before but lvl specific battles seems a comparatively easy fix to the "problem" higher lvl gear = higher risk = higher sp/isk payout = problem solved don't want to play against proto suits? don't. easy enough.
It should be set to max lvl and below tho rather than set lvl only. If someone wants to run a MLT fit against a whole proto team feel free, but I think bonus sp/isk from higher lvl matches needs to be from actual effectiveness NOT time in game. |

Sadly, the people that can afford to run their protosuits out all of the time are the ones that don't even to use them. I came into the game a few months ago (with no FPS experience, mind you) and quickly grew frustrated with being mowed down left and right, so I took to the hills and made a living as a sniper/AVer, telling myself that things would get better as I unlocked better and more powerful suits. I finally unlocked my first protosuit (Gallente medium Basic--don't laugh!) and was ready to return to the front lines...right about the same time that Aim Assist came into play. So now I can go 10-3 for the battle and lose 150k ISK, or I can go 10-6 in my advanced gear and come away with 50k profit.
I'm pretty sure that most of the squads from the big corporations could still utterly dominate a match running militia gear; but since money is no object to them, they can keep trotting out the proto gear. |

I wish I could live in your world where that statement is actually true
Anyway on topic the only way to stop it is tiercide which has the bonus of making this game truly competitive since gear wont play as large a role and will separate the men from the boys so to speak |

Cause cost restrictions don't work.
Anyone in a large corp just whines for more money, and gets some of the corps infinite ISK.

Most players who run proto without a squad are capable of being taken down with naught but a militia assault fit. All I'm going to say. You can build up both SP and ISK over time with militia fits and never go negative. |

I think the matchmaking is probably not as easy to implement. I'm just thinking about a higher level player (let's just say around 18 million SP), who decides to spec into a new area. Will he be forced to run militia gear against proto squads? There's an additional layer of complexity in trying to prevent certain gear types from being used, as a militia fitting with an ADV/Proto weapon would carry certain restrictions and might get funneled into a game where everyone is running exclusively proto fittings.
I think the economy will have to be the target, but again, how do you balance that out with the same few corps controlling all the districts?
This is going to be a tough egg to crack...
