To make faction warfare more interesting... I think that you should be limited to only being able to use gear (or at least the dropsuits) from the specific faction you are fighting for!
Would make things much more challenging, and also just kinda more fun/army like, with more recognizable uniforms for the sides, so to speak :)

ALL of the racial variant dropsuits, weapons, and vehicles will need to be implemented before something like that can happen.
uh, no, that is neither a "problem", nor a "need" It is merely "challenging" to play as-is. (as far as dropsuits go. Vehicles may be a different thing)
Yeah, it would kinda suck for Amarr, at least initially... but perhaps the limitation would motivate folks to come up with more creative fits.
We may see more deployments of Amarrr with double proto kincats, for example
(Eeeeee.. thats.. .kinda a scary thought, actually. And triple woudl get them up to 7.5 sprint speed, I think. A HMG or forge gunner that sprints around like a scout?? *shudder*) |

If you want a "lore" excuse... then:
They will only give (race type rewards) to combat units that are officially (insert race name here). You will be put into an honorary (race name) combat unit for the duration. Requirements to joining this combat unit, require upholding the HONOR of the race. Therefore, you must wear their dropsuits.
Fight and win a battle? Fine, you're a merc, here's your money.
Fight using (THEIR) gear? you are worthy of being honored by the state. |

That still goes against the New Eden lore. Eve Online players run missions for factions and join faction warfare using ships that they bought from the market. If an Eve Online player can join a factional warfare for the Amarr using Minmatar ships, then it stands to reason that Dust players should get the same privilege. Besides, Eve and Dust players are technically privateers or mercenaries which implies "independence".
yes, fine. Like I said: Want to play as a random merc? fine, get paid like a merc. Want to play as an honorary (race here)? Great! get honored like a (race here), with (racial gear), rather than just mere merc compensation. |

XANDER KAG wrote: So basically this is a completely screw over the Minmatar plan right? We aren't assaults or logi's we are tanked scouts. Caldari would **** the Gallente with the superiority of shield tanking on dropsuits.
And as someone above said, this couldn't be done until all the other suits and weapons were released, or what about a Minmatar guy who uses heavies or an Amarr who uses scouts?
So I say no.
You're basically complaining, "This wouldnt let me play like I'm used to!!"
Which is exactly the point of my suggestion. You'd have to pick up new play styles. IF you wanted the special racial gear bonus from FW, that is.
You make it sound like Caldari always win against Gallente. This is ludicrous. Every race has its strong points, AND its weaknesses.
For example: equip every gallente with flux grenades, and caldari shields arent going to last very long. one or two hits with only a pistol, will take them out.
Or, just wipe em out with a scrambler rifle barrage. Assault SCR, anyone?
Want to be honored by the Gallente? Learn to be a smarter Gallente dropsuit user.
Funilly enough, I primarily play in gallente scout suits myself.
I fear no caldari assault suit :)

Sheesh..c'mon people, use your heads?
or, i guess most people dont... which is why most squads suck :-/
If everyone is using a flux, then that means they ARENT carrying other things. Such as AV grenades. Or regular grenades. So, switch to an armor based fit, and suddenly, you dont care about flux grenades.
This would once more lead to potentially interesting, not prevously seen fits. As with my prior exampe of "Amarr with kincats", this could lead to serious Caldari assault players speccing into complex armor. A caldari medium C-1 or C/1 has two low slots. That can give you a fit that has a high of 210shld/390arm. (not counting skill bonuses to armor)
Not too shabby. Even if they only want to ADV armor, 2xenhanced plate would give 340 armor total. If you wanted to go REALLY crazy with armor, proto Caldari medium has 3 low slots.. or caldari LOGI, has *4*. SO, 530 total armor possible for that, even if you "only" spec up to medium armor Proto logi + proto armor, would be 630 armor total, I think?
"But what about....."
Again, there is a counter to whatever 'problem' you think you can come up with. Try to actually think about countermeasures youself. It'll make you a better merc, whether or not they actually implement my FW sugestion.
You have to adjust to using a fit suited to what the enemy is actually using, rather than "the One fit I want to run all the time, in all battles"

As far as vehicle usage, it could be handle consistently, in one of two ways.
Either
a) you can always use militia vehicles, since you dont have to spec into any race-specific skill tree
or
b) it's permissible to use an allied race's vehicles. So, amarr get to use caldari, and minmatar get to use gallente?
I suppose that might also extend to use of dropsuits from allied races. But I personally think it will make the game more interesting to keep the dropsuits one-race only, for the special race-based rewards.
