Hello there,
I'll start in this part of the forums for the info. I notice a disproportionate amount of patch content coming from one team (Team True Grit) and it got me wondering - what are the other names of the teams and what is their in-game scope (ie. what do they work on?). I find it's useful to know this if we are trying to push feedback and getting the attention of the right people. I'm particularly interested in giving feedback to the teams that take care of the marketplace and the skill system. |

To go along with the above it also would be nice to know the list of features they are currently working on and the next couple in line, would help alleviate feelings that the devs are not paying attention to feedback. |

While I totally agree with listing the direction of the features that the teams are working on, some of the features should of course be kept quite.
This is my experience from eve speaking, but sometimes when devs give away too much from what is going on in the patch it can have MAJOR ramifications in game. |

Ah true, so I suppose something simple such as "New Content" would be enough, and depending on the team would generate speculation that would be fun. |

Man, this is something that we on the CPM have a hard enough time getting.
We'd love to get it to you guys, but... We're not the ones that need convincing.

Actually my aim wasn't to get the list of the different teams to harass them, but so that when I post in the suggestions forum I can actually label the suggestions for the right team so it has a higher visibility. Having said that it would be nice to have individual team roadmaps, although at the moment Team True Grit is by far and away the team with the most communication, although I imagine some teams , like the ones who work on maps, have a longer release cycle .... So you guys don't even know the scope of what each team is working on? I'd particularly like to know which team takes care of the "marketing" side... such as aurum sales and the marketplace and the team which works on skills and the skill system (if these are indeed different teams?)
Thanks again. |

:( I would love to see this list as well. It would really save you CPMs a lot of time reading posts about things that are already being worked on to tell us that X feature is coming soon aka being currently worked on be it actively or passively.

@ Draco :
Well, it's not even so much a matter of that. It's tough enough for us to wrangle a sprint newsletter to know what team did X for the last build and what they're doing for the next. Further, even if we /can/ find out what's being actively worked on, we still haven't resolved the issue of the iron chokehold being kept on information for pretty much no reason other than someone trying to justify their own job. (** As far as we can tell, because nobody will give us a straight answer on WHO is saying "No, don't share X") So the CPM being able to just scroll through threads and say "Yup, CCP's working on this" isn't really possible (not nearly as much as we'd like to, anyways)
That said, what I /can/ tell you is that there's around 14-15 different teams that we know of, and while some have a general task baseline like "Team Y works on art assets, or team Z works on map assets" The actual stuff a lot of teams do (Like Wolfman's team) varies so wildly from patch to patch that it's kind of hard to really give a definitive answer there, that would actually be helpful for the public to say... make a thread titled "Feedback for Team Knee 101" or "Feedback for Team Hand Grenade Chicken" because what those teams are doing might not be the same thing they were last month.
And again... There's a problem with the mysterious information overlord that would probably assume it's some horrible thing for people to even know all the team names, for some baffling reason and probably be upset that I even posted two of them

Nova said most of what there is to say.
I'll just add that CCP_Rouge arrival is still pretty fresh. So team re-organization is obviously still in the works. |

Perfect, that's what I was after - if you say that only a portion of the teams are always working on particular topics and the rest of the teams are always working on different things then it makes no sense to direct feedback to a particular team when they are no longer working on said topic.
I guess now the trick would be getting a regular newsletter from the teams that work on the same stuff (I'd say Team True Grit and Team Kong seem to be the best at delivering this kind of roadmap)... and your ever elusive "blood from stone" quest to extract info from the other teams.
Having worked in IT and project management, I am curious how they organise their sprints, especially if as you say they are switching teams from one thing to the next over different patch cycles - I imagine this must be a team of developers who have a similar skill set (coding C#, python or whatever language they code in), while some teams must have such a "niche" skillset that only they can do what they do (art and graphics usually comes to mind). 14-15 teams though seems impressive - I didn't realise there were so many. Are you including infrastructure teams in this ? (such as the guys who just make sure the servers are up and running, etc.) |
