Sorry for having missed it previously, but I will gladly help with fleshing out my nation and its leader in your novel. So ask away, Thanatos, ask away! |

If we're doing the founding of Diyad I doubt any of our current characters (except for maybe a beta test of the Engineer or High school Sandromin) will even have been born yet. Either way, I'm going to have to shake out of my funk and contribute a whole lot more, especially since Thanatos (the character) has already stated that the Diyadians descended from Venezzians. First I need to know from Sandromin how long the Second Era actually lasted, since Diyad began in the Second Era. Since I'm dealing with Diyad's conception I need my Venezzian Explorers. So I'd need to know important Venezzian leaders, figures, celebrities and technology at that time. I'd imagine that the founder of Diyad had to be affiliated with important Venezzian peoples.
So do I understand correctly that, since the Ashborn came to Mediterra only recently, you don't really need anything from their history right now? |

The Second Era was a blighted one. Nobody know exactly how long it lasted. Some scholars argue over the endpoint, but almost none contest the Great Firestorm started it. However, a majority of scholars define the end as what is called as the Blue Decade; in ten years, many major events happened, all of them odd and unexplained. In the first year of the Blue Decade, two events happened: The end of the Dorian People, signifying the conclusion of higher learning for the next century, and the establishment of the first Expeditionary group. Within the next year, the First Expedition had occurred and they began their travels. Next, the Barbarians of Barbaria invaded the Sand lands, being repelled within the first year of the invasion. Also, the conclusion of the Therisian Wars saw its end once the Therisian government saw its utter destruction, allowing for the reversion back into ferality. The third year began with the reversion of Therisia into the Tundras of Doomgoth. [TBC]
If I may ask, what was exactly the Great Firestorm? And does anyone know for sure the actual cause behind it, or was it simply a disaster of mysterious origins? |

Much less construction from Stone and Marble. Wood will be the prevailing material. It will be a small town, a back water, the entire thing fitting into what I called the Western district in my lore bombs, though none of the landmarks mentioned, save for the house of the broken lance and the port, exist. The land that Venezzia will cover is/was Swampy river Delta and forrest, dotted with a few noble compounds. Perhaps a farm and a Vineyard. I need to cook up some more noble families. Of course, House Vincenzo will make an appearance as they are old money. As to whether they will be as set in their ways as they are by Alixenus' time...not sure. Also, Thanatos, what was your overall idea of the founding of Diyad? Was this a deliberate migration or did a trading convoy get lost?
...aaaaaand I've realised a Ginormous plot hole with Venezzia. If the city became wealthy from trade, and the Republic only encountered the rest of you at the beginning of the first thread...who the frakk were we trading with? ...Well....oh... Game Over
Good game, well played.
On a serious note... I remember mentioning that the nations of Praecantaria had enshrouded the continent in impenetrable mist after their not-so-peaceful dealings with mortals from Mediterra. Could it be that the Venezzians of old had at first established a prosperous trade with the Mir, but later grew jealous of the latter people's abilities, tried to wage war, and were repelled and banished from the continent? We could also tie in Nak'Sora/Fate in that she, still untainted yet, made the fleeing survivors forget about their travels to Praecantaria and the fact of the continent's existence...
Oh, and Sandromin, I feel like the Firestorm also should have to do something with Praecantaria. Don't know what exactly yet, but I will think about it and flesh this idea a bit more soon.
EDIT: Did not see Sandromin's post, so your choice of what you want to do, Alixenus. My suggestion still stands, though. |
