This is my current nova knife fit:
Scout M-1 Complex Shield Extender 'Scorchtalon' nova knifes (.5 second shorter charge time than basic) A-19 stable active scanner (less PG/CPU restrictions) basic profile dampener (I find the stealth worth it) militia kin cat (skilling into basic ATM)
So what do you think of this fit? Do you have any recommendations? Thanks in advance... |

So what do you think of this fit? Do you have any recommendations? Thanks in advance... as a once very avid user of nova knives in 1.3...
don't fuckin bother. they are bullshit now.
oh alright, i guess i'll play along.
first off you need better nova nova knives. at least advanced. the standards are terrible. forget the stable scanner. if you even want to use a scanner use the A-16ish-foc-able...THE 16 SECOND ONE WHATEVER ITS CALLED.
drop the dampener. just one standard dampener wont put you below advanced scanner, and light frames are naturally under standard scanners. skill into proto kinetics if you can. at proto you get a free basic kincat just from the bonus.
assuming you dont have a proto scout, you wont get much hp, but anyway:
2 enhanced shield extenders zn-28 nova knives submachine gun(necessary) scanner kincats or armor your choice.
i REALLY should warn you, nova knives are no where near as good now as the were pre-1.4. ATM i would highly recommend you go the shotgun route instead. i'm just trying to prevent you from losing millions of isk learning this the hard way like i did...
also, with any minnie scout suit you will be squishy as hell, so dont go blindly rushing into the battle, unless you feel like giving the other team a kill. unless you are 100% positive you can kill the guy, or you absolutely have to, DONT FACE ANYONE FACE TO FACE. especially is you're in an advanced scout. you'll be lucky to get more than 200-250 hp. that's roughly 6-8 shots from a militia AR.
i'll redirect you to a full post i had teaching how to own with nova knives. its kinda outdated, but useful nontheless. just take what you need out of it. That Link is right here
good luck. you're gonna need it...

Only time I found them useful was when 2 or 3 guys hack the objective, you sneak behind 'em and give them the quick charge with the Ishukone. |

Are nova knives considered sidearms or mele? Can I use sidearm dmg mods on them? |

Scout G/1-Series, KLO-1 Scrambler Pistol, ZN-28 Knives, Basic Shield Reg, Enhanced Codebreaker, Enhanced Sidearm Damage Mod, and R-9 drop uplinks.
Running two sidearms lets you save on CPU/PG use with the scout suit, plus one damage mod boosts both weapons. Spec into the scrambler pistols and you actually get a decent bang for your buck - with the codebreaker and drop uplinks, scouting recently hacked objs or enemy objs is profitable and benefits the team immensely. The shield regulator helps, but my advice? Don't get caught...charged knife from the back and a quick unload of the pistol usually takes all but the heaviest of heavies! |

First off, as someone here already said, ditch the standard knives as they are only good for being backup whenever you run out of ammo. The advanced ZN-28 nova knives are considered a minimum requirement. Also, if you're going to fit profile dampeners, train up to at least level 3 first. As for the shields, don't bother unless you have at least level 4 on shield extension.
Don't forget to fit a flux active scanner at least. The scan cone is narrow but you get a nice range advantage and you only need one second scans anyways which won't delay you much if you need to quickly swap back to the weapon. Speaking of which, don't forget to fit at least an SMG, Shotgun or an Assault rifle as a backup. |
