He had no idea what the hell he was doing. It was on our second game, rolling with a full squad of Hellstorm, that we managed to get his first kill. And what was so special about this?
He loves the game.
Even though he was completely useless, and aware of it, he couldn't stop talking about how cool the maps are and the fact you can call in vehicles. It reminded me of when I was new to this game and how impressed I was with the concept before the dust forums made me bitter.
Pick up a noobie with your squad. Show them the ropes. With a little help I'm sure we can get more of the new recruits to stick around. |

I remember joining my first game and dumbfiring swarm launchers everywhere because I thought I might get a kill.
I've always liked that sense of discovery and exploration in a new game. |

I agree. These forums are toxic. Every time I get into a game conversation with randoms in-game the general idea is that people like this game. I started playing on launch in May and I must say a lot of the negatives didn't occur to me until I read about them on the forum.
In a way this game is kind of like watching It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. At first you love it. Then someone points out it's just a bunch of people screaming at each other and it kind of gets ruined.... |

Awesome. It's a shame that so many of the people on this forum are openly hostile towards new players, because they're the same ones going on about how this game is slowly dying...yet they never seem to make the obvious connection between the two. |

is only so much you can do to help Newbies... You can try to show them how to play the game, but is guaranteed that you will always have a Pubstompig Squad interfering with your efforts. |

Just noticed this thread after I made a new account. I played one round in the academy and tripled the highest score on both teams, after that I invited some blueberries into a squad and showed them how to strafe and told them how to call in LAVs. The next game we did I saw a line of LAVs guarding the objective on domination and it was quite funny. Taking the time to show newberries what to do is rewarding and it helps them when they get out of the academy and start playing against prototypes. Plus it's fun to see what they say when you fly them around in a drop ship. |

The academy teaches you nothing it took me one game to get kicked out of it, in my first game I went 31-1 and it was literally a joke. The second game due to some matchmaking I was put up against a proto squad with 4~5 times my EHP, though my militia stuff destroyed a couple of times those proto scrubs in 1vs1. |

Agreed, I remember my first time playing the game when there was no academy......it was good until I got to the forums and then it just got worse.
Now when I'm rolling around solo, I'll invite players to my squad or I'll join randos squads and see if they need some help with how to play |
