I mean, maybe if all the swarms hit at the exact time and that forge gunner hit you as well, but it was a militia forge gun. I mean, maybe there was another, but it certainly didn't look like that. I know that the back of the tank is the weak point, but your resists were up. I dunno :/
Oh, and I am definitely down for working on that tactic we were discussing, if you want to fart around with a fit. I should be ready to go in a day or two. |

This my fellow tanker is the invisible swarms glitch.
Basically the guy swarming you is out of The "draw distance" that your tanks main weapon has.
So your not supposed to see him because your gun can't let you see that far. Stupid logic to reduce server load and reduce lag.
So whats happening is because he is out of the draw distance his weapon is not registering in your distance therefore to you it doesn't exist. You still take the damage. but its is impossible to avoid because you have no idea where its coming from.
It's very related to the snipers rendering range glitch. In fact its the exact same issue.
It happens with swarms, forge guns, And all installations.
Near the end of the 6 : 30 mark you hear the swarms approaching but did not see any trails or any other sign of them because he was hiding in the red line
I also have video of the same issues. CCP has ignored it for months but as of oct 8th they should be making changes on it. They finally acknowledged it was an issue and have a fix coming with 1.5

I just watched the video again, and I have to disagree.
The audio for swarms is also glitched beyond belief - often after a single swarm launcher goes off, I hear what sounds like several volleys of swarms launching and it ends up just being an audio glitch. For this reason, I generally don't put much trust in the audio as a warning sign.
This is physics gone wrong - Look at the kill feed, its a clone death. If this was swarms you'd have seen tons of impacts on the vehicle - (even if the missiles didn't draw while in flight) It would have taken an immense amount of swarms to take me from 5300 armor (with 50% resists) all the way to zero. And you would have seen a kill in the feed - either a swarm kill or a roadkill if it was "swarms + physics"
None of that happened here - no missile/forge impacts, no degradation of armor as missiles impacted, no kill in the killfeed.
Just 5300 armor (10600 effective) then instantly clone dead.
As much as I hate invisi-swarms, they weren't the culprit here; bad physics was.

MUDFLAPS is a damn good tanker, and based on my experience in that game as well, I'm inclined to agree with him. |

Had an LAV randomly blow up for no reason yesterday killing me and most of my squad. Didn't get a kill screen just "clone died" |

Looks like you took a swarm, that only scraped your armour, I think down to about 90% then boom! Insta death from nowhere.....

Well there is also the ridiculous impact damage from walls.
like when you bump a wall and your tank does a wheelie and you lose half your health in a second.
i have that happen fairly often as well. There are cases where i have driven through an installation and it took my tank all the way to nothing.
i just think CCP secretly hates HAV/LAV because they don't fly. |

ACTUALLY this can happen INSIDE your render range as well. If the guy is shooting over a wall, and he is not directly in your LOS they can launch invisible swarms at you by head-glitching over the top of the wall.
Had this happen to me once with a guy inside of a Node. I saw the swarms pop to life as I was tracking a guy to the gate -----x-------|__|< x is the swarmer behind the wall the U is the gate. the arrow < is where I was looking when the guy finally rendered and his swarms appeared. |
