Mercenaries who can't provide orbital support unless they're part of the alliance means an insanely long employment history. Being contracted out usually means that the person who's hiring you has to provide their own orbital which sometimes isn't feasible because they either have no Eve support or the players who are in Eve aren't orbital capable.
While a contract system would be fantastic, a quicker solution would be to allow Orbital Support if someone on the team is part of the same alliance. So, if Anonymous gets hired out for a fight and we have guys on the ground - than allowing Eve players from Anonymous to provide orbital would be great. |

I disagree. Until CCP actually implements a contracting system that makes it visible who will be fighting a match on behalf of another corp (and remove the ringer concept entirely), it should be required that the bombers be in the same Alliance as the player hosting the match. It'd help motivate Dust corps without EVE support to try and establish links with existing EVE Alliances or to recruit EVE players themselves instead of "ringing" both EVE AND Dust guys into their matches |

I want to see eve fleets and dust squads linked together for PC and further interaction down the road. |

My guys were saying that same thing last night as we were parked over Oddelulf. It sucks sitting in space, not knowing the status of the match, or if an orbital might be requested soon, with my finger hovering over F1. |

What's worse is the atrocious lag if you try to connect via voice through Eve. You -have- to be on voice through Dust. |

Double edged sword really. It might help Dust corps try and establish Eve support but it might encourage them to do so anyway if they can get the Eve support with a ringer - and forcing alliances between Dust/Eve is a shoddy placeholder at best. Eve players generally don't care about Dust and the only players benefiting from Eve online are low-sec entities who even bother to put up POSes for anything other than a force fielded safe spot (pro hint: not many) |
