As a newer player, 4.3 million sp, I sometimes find myself nearly useless against hordes of vets.

 What do I do?

Not always, but sometimes I turn around and walk my back towards them! The hope is that they won't fire at me because of the "peaceful" act I am doing. But everyone every time has always killed me. Kinda takes the fun out of seeing a random blueberry standing amongst a hoard of raspberries just loafing around. Lol, I am serious though, I really dream that this can happen and be seen.

hold of on a racial specific suit, just skill up a basic suit.

hold off on a proto weapon, a level 3 weapon (like a GEK) will suit you just fine for now.

 work on your core upgrades.

 Focus narrowly, don't diversify.

most importantly, choose a blueberry that you think is "playing well" and follow him like a loyal puppy. This is honestly the single best action to take.

You will, you need your own hordes to overwhelm them.

Join a active corp is a good start, they do not have to be an elite. You just need to squad up and have a mic. Being able to run together and actually sticking together will give you an upperhand over the vets. At this point in time vets with 20+ mil SP and Protogear will be competing for kills. If you are able to buddy up with one or two squad mates your fire power will stop a solo proto in his tracks(most of the time if proto's are in a squad together they will rarely run side by side because that gets you less kills then spreading out.) You will have a lot higher rate of survival against protosuits when running in a group, even if your group is just fit with standard gear.

Squading up will be made easier come october 8th.

Don't underestimate the power of having a mic and communicating.

As for your strategy of peace, that's going to fail everytime. If you see someone skilled enough and rich enough to wear proto all the time they are not paying attention to what you are doing they are just mowing down anything that moves.

Just be patient. Try to play with or stick with a group of other players to lessen the deaths. That and practice man; practice will help you compensate for the lack of gear you may be suffering from right now. Once you start doing those things, you'll start to die less than what you are right now.

I try this with tanks. If I'm caught I try to catch a ride. It doesn't end well.
One day I'll meet a friendly red tank...

That is good advice. I do need to work up my core upgrades though.

One thing I find frustrating is my experience with squad dynamics. Most of the time, the weapon you need to fight the foe proper no one is using. So you spec into it so you can help yourself and the team. But, then you fall behind being able to attack with other weapons.

I think specialization is important, but the practical implementation of that system depends on your team doing it too. And most of my team is not specialized.

This works best if you do it with a repair tool or active scanner. Your new friend will live longer and so will you.

 Long-Term Strategy
TL/DR: Go AR or Go Home

The best advice I can offer is to hang in there and skill into a fit that is guaranteed to work. I strongly recommend investing your hard-earned SP in an Assault Suit and the Assault Rifle. While the effectiveness of other weapons and roles fluctuates between builds, you're safe in your AR-514 selection as its foundation is centered upon "staple" items, historically prone to buff and performance improvement. Furthermore, you're all but guaranteed immunity to nerf by choosing to use what the majority of "vets" and other players use. In short, you'll stand to acquire and maintain significant advantage over your opponents at significantly less investment of time and SP. It kinda sucks for the non-AR-514 minority, but its safe for you and is hands down the quickest path to future success.

 Short-Term Strategy:
 TL/DR: Choose Your Battles Wisely

Dust is a 'bit of a "Vet Fest" at times. Higher-tier players are prone to running in packs, and our matchmaking systems don't seem to mind wildly imbalanced battles. Better teammates means a lower likelihood of death which means a higher likelihood of proto gear. Six vets in proto gear all but assures opponents will be steamrolled. Check the roster after you deploy for squads of six guys from the same corp. If you're up against a high-end corp, you and your pals are potential victims of a pubstomp. Be proactive and backout of the match. Queue up for another battle and seek out a balanced fight. Your only other option is to snipe. The best part ... when you and your buddies backout of a pubstomp, your slots are rarely filled. So the pubstomper vets end up with a boring match against a handful of opponents.

Use explosives mate. I made a post about this a few days ago "countering the mighty pubstomp" the cheaper the weapon is to use in terms of skill, the easier it is for you to kill someone who has a lot of SP.

If it was my corp and you were the last one standing doing that, we probably would've let you live and even hack the objective. We did this last night with a player who was the only one left on the battlefield when everyone else bailed. Our corp leader messaged him to come and hack the A objective and we just had fun together. We even dropped down a bunch of free LAV's for him to destroy. Lol. He later joined our squad and played.
