Hello there mercenaries,
After getting my SMG skills to a decent level, I started playing around with a SMG only build, but then I realised I always used just one weapon (the standard SMG BPO - I think it's the toxin?). So my questions are as follows:
- What are the builds you commonly use for an SMG only fitting. I noticed SMG's have very high CPU requirements, almost as high as an AR so was quite surprised that I couldn't really fit them any differently to my main assault AR build.
- What submachine gun works for you? I haven't tried all of them apart from the standard and the breach - which has a weird noise and the fire rate isn't to my liking.
- Indirectly related to submachine guns - I have proficiency 4 and am considering 5, but I don't see how an extra 3% will add anything when the standard damage is 31 per shot. How is fractional damage treated? if I have proficiency 5 I will get 15% extra damage so that equates to 4.65 (for 31 damage) - but how is the .65 treated.. is it ignored.. is it rounded up? any clarifications appreciated.
Thanks to any and all who lend a hand.

I know on armour regen that fractions are retained.
That might indicate that fractions on damage are retained as well. |

My guess is that damage numbers are only rounded for display purposes. So two bullets 4.65 + 4.65 = 9.3 damage and would display as 9, rather than 4 + 4 = 8 damage. Also, on ammo capacity where you can't have a fraction of a bullet, it seems to be rounded up.
SMG has a fast reload. While being able to spray a massive amount of ammo switching between two SMG is fun, I find it more advantageous to just fit 1 SMG and leave the sidearm slot empty to free up Power Grid and CPU. Nice for fitting Complex Damage mods, or Complex shield extenders on a Basic suit. It also makes fitting Drop Uplinks easier.
My favourite SMG fit is to pair it with a Swarm Launcher and Remote Explosives for maximum mayhem. For extra fun, put this fit on a Scout Suit. It sort of requires you to have skilled up Swarm Launcher Ammo Capacity though, since you are ditching the Nano Hive to equip the Remote Explosives. |

Great response - thanks. Just out of interest, what SMG do you usually equip? Is it worth trying the proto ones or do the advanced ones do the job just fine - the damage differentials are so small between the versions It looks as if the m209 should do the job nicely. |

Good to see you.
1.) I run a Ninja Scout with Knives/SMG. If you are gonna go SMG only, then I recommend using 2 SMG's. One Proto, One basic. Stack a damage mod on it too. Use the Proto to deal the vast majority of the damage, then finish off with the basic.
2.) What SMG you ask? Go assault. Never look back. Increased ROF, Range, and Total Ammo. It can replace the AR in Short-Mid range combat.
3.) Damage is calculated like this. Say that you have Proficiency 5 and a complex damage mod. It tallies up all the percentages first, and then applies them to the base. 31 damage base * 1.25 (25% damage increase) = 38.75 Damage a bullet. Not sure how they round. But that is how they get raw data.
***EDIT*** Just noticed the 3 didn't even answer your question. Ah well. Leaving the math there anyways
Also, if you are aspiring to be a scoutly assassin.... Just gonna leave this here. |
