I look at the damage AOE for grenades, mass drivers and it seems things are off??
I.e. a vehicle is around 3m to 4m long so it stands to reason that if I shoot a massdriver round at four enemy in proximity to a vehicle then they must be in the AOE but its not like this.
I.e. an enemy LAV with four enemy in close proximity in an area of 8m so it stands to reason that all within this "weapons description" AOE are damaged?
But when testing its never like this in that at max two enemies are damaged and two or more in the AOE escape damage.
So why??
Either the hitdetection is wonky or the actual AOE values are off??
Using boundless assault mass drive, freedom, exo, mass driver.
Mass driver L5 and proficiency L3.
Grenades L5 and a typical room is 4m but when tossing a grenade its rare to kill every enemy in the room ?? I.e. Thukkers said 6m? but it felt like I had to toss them in what felt like a distance of 3m or less?
Core locus feels like I have to toss them at 1/2 the stated damage AOE so if it telles me 6m I then get results tossing at 3m??
Whats up with this??
Can we get an actual training/weapons testing range?? |

I've always just told myself eve/dust meters are not real world meters but instead they are feet. After that everything seems accurate in my mind when I use it. |

They are meters. Remember you are viewing the world from the perspective of a gun, not the perspective of an individual. This, along with the field of view settings, results in an optical illusion that makes distances appear shorter than they really are. |

I dunno man, my core locus blow people up even when I have a spaz throw and it lands no where near them, the AOE of explosives seems to work to me

So... objects in Dust are closer than they appear?

It's to scale, just the field of view makes it seem like it's not. |

Meters and feet are used ingame.
It's been that way for quite some time. Especially noticeable if you use a railgun tank... I shot a guy literally 2 feet from him both in front, then behind the direction he was running, and he received no damage before. Had to directly hit him in order to see his health bar ping down. I say 2 feet because if he had keeled down I would have hit his knee directly.
So railguns have a feet/diameter setup it seems. |
