as you can grasp from the title, I was thinking of a fun new game mode:
Plot: "your team is flying in a spaceship that is transporting clones. However you got intercept in space by pirates and you spaceship falls on the ground. You have to repair (hack) your ship to leave the planet, but the pirates landed with their MCC to exterminate you". (if you don't like the repair idea, the hack it to call for SOS)
This game would be a pefect mix of the two game modes: one squad must hack the objective (the ship so they can escape) while the other team has to kill all enemies. One team is an empire corp while the other is a pirate corp.
The map should be some desert-like map, no socket should be around. No place for sniping and no covers (other than the spaceship), this makes this game mode VERY hard and you can practice on two important tactics, mass attack and mass defend, especially in teamplay.
To make this mode more challenging, the hacking has some limitations: - you can't hack for more than 5% each 30 second per person (or something like that), meaning everybody must be involved in the winning - only 3 person can hack at time - the time for hacking is longer than retaking an objective - wp are given for each 5% hack
There should be no chance to make orbital strikes, because there is no ship in orbit (your MCC is crashed, enemy MCC is landed to attack you and nobody else knows you are there)
Since there is the request of adding a primae as in game map, this could be a great mix of current existing assets and the new idea.
Also I don't see it too hard to implement it, assets are already there (only the ship model is missing but could just be an MCC on the ground). The hard part is to balance the hacking. |

Aside from the "everybody needs in on the hack" idea I like it.
It may be that the spaceship also clipped a mountain (too many whiskey dispensers in spaceships nowadays) and impaled itself on the top of a mountain. Both sides need to climb to hack the ship, the attackers being some "Ninja Salvage" crew hired to clear out the mercs before they can set to salvaging the ship. Defenders, a care bearing space syndicate only trying to get their "goods/drugs" to market and avoid space lane sanctions by customs officials. OB support for the attackers and defenders only if an Eve player can get there before the match is over. |

this could be nice, great idea.

If pirates ambushed a starship, then it would blow up in space, and they would salvage it in space. Plus, the CRU onboard would probably blow, and if not, any life systems keeping the clones fresh would go out. Therefore, this makes no sense.
Also, the OB's aren't from MCC's. They either come from some starship (we only have smalls right now, so either a frigate, or more commonly a destroyer) or more specifically apparently the more common one from a Ocra (as I have been told), so that wouldn't make sense
Lastly ambush is just a TDM match, and domination is just skirmish with one point, so calling it that makes no sense
As for the concept of defending a point while another team tries capturing it could be done better if they have to move the object to their home point, like say a important blueprint, or a crate of weapons. This could actually become a really good PVE and PVP idea. We could make this a small gang warfare thing, harassing bigger corps on their districts, or even raids on pirate districts. And you could steal something of value from the corps/pirates, or even the big four as apart of FW.

This is not always the case, actually in eve you cannot land on planet but if you could im sure many near orbit fights would end on the planet surface. Don't break my idea right away :-), the fictional part can be tweaked to what's suits best for new eden. Also why should the CRU blow up? Don't you think the pilot could have done an emergency ladning? Also a starship full of clones is quite defended and would not just blow up at the first attack.

You know, just to make the story stick..
