So we currently have CRU and depots spawning from the sky. That is kind of cool for the battle tactics but I think there should be a bit of change in it.
I was thinking of it as: in orbit there are spaceships in combat, by time to time one of those ships falls on the ground. These ships will contain a mobile CRU or a supply depot. The in game effect is exactly the same but the new model gives some more realism to the environment, makes you feel as you are ground fighting while somebody is in space fighting on your side aswell.
So I basically would like to see the model changed for what is a spawning CRU/depot (the ones on the ground can stay with the same horrible model). Falling spaceships is much more new-eden style than falling CRU/depots
Second point is that the position where they spawn should have a bit of randomness, this way you can't plan your tactics ahead because you have played the same map over and over. Just a bit of randomness, they will still have fixed locations but that will be choosen at random (e.g. dont spawn a CRU just near a domination objective).
A third point could be that these spaceships randomly explode when touching ground. So you have to hack it before is explodes (maybe it burns 2 minutes, with high smoke so you know where it is) and you will die if you are in the blast area.
So here's the usecase:
While playing in domination you see a flash in the sky, then see this falling spaceship (of the size of the CRU). You start running to where you expect it to fall but this time it falls 200m further. You run to hack it but as you are near you see its an enemy spaceship, and somebody is already spawning from there. You then kill the enemies and hack the spaceship so that you now can use the CRU for your team.
I would LOVE to see eve models used in that, so that a player would say: "wow, I would love to fly a ship like that" and you could answer "there is EVE for that :D".
PS. if its currently the MCC throwing the CRU, why does it comes from straight above? |

I like the idea, but in the scenario of a craft crashing on a planet I would think we would need a larger map and normally you would see a lot of wreckage and I would not expect a large CRU to survive undamaged if the craft transporting it is all shot up. Would we have clone loss from this scenario? Would it spawn people without shields until the charge or would 3/4 of their gear be inaccessible from that CRU? Would only the Militia or Proto gear be available? Would the types of suits available (assault/heavy/scout/logi/basic) be reduced to basic from that cru? |

I think this should not become too complex. Right now we have CRU spawning from the sky, with no damage or wreckage from the impact, meaning that we don't really care about realism at this point.. No clone losses or any fancy dropsuit limitation should be introduced.
Basically what I ask in the first point is to change the model, without affecting any gameplay. Then maybe change the location where it can spawn. And last and proably least, have a time-frame where you can hack them.
For the size, I think it should be a small frigate or a fighter drone (maybe the one from eve VR) so that you don't have to change anything. It could just be a dropship falling from the sky, reusing the Bolas DS drop animation, but from high up (and you don't see the bolas).
PS. The same idea can be introduce in Ambush, where the spawn points are random ships that are crashing from the orbit so you don't spawn out-of-the-blue but have some realism in that aswell.. |
