So I run with two proto suits these days. One is my gk0 logi, and the other is my mk0 assault. These are polar opposites of each other in terms of concept and use.
My Gk0 is VERY sturdy and packs a HUGE punch. The cost for this is limited mobility, and limited flexibility in open ranges. Oh and theres also the actual ISK cost of 250k per suit......
My Mk0 is much more mobile, but it can either be mildly sturdy OR pack a HUGE punch. It cant be both because it doesn't have enough slots or PG/CPU to be both. (and that's with maximum core skills). However it does only cost about 100k per fit. This suit is great for flanking around and out strafing bad guys, however it too has limited use on open terrain due to its relatively low tanking ability.
So the problem I have with these suits is that both are pretty evil in close quarters but neither are very good at long range confrontations. (keep in mind I only use the SR with proficiency 4 and always at least 2 damage mods). Now you could argue my GK0 is decent at long range simply because I can take FARRRRRR more damage then they can take, and my gun just does so much damage that even at range it can still hurt, but what really takes away from the (assault) scrambler rifles effectiveness is its recoil...... I cant land enough hits fast enough to kill whoever im shooting at if there outside of my optimal range.
But if they have an AR they have the advantage because I simply don't have as much accuracy as they do. Not to mention how difficult it is to win a fight in the wide open when approaching a compound being camped religiously by the enemy.
SOOOOOOOOOO I tried speccing into the tac rifle to see what that was like..... a mistake...... lol. Too much recoil to be useful. This lead me into the LR. You see, ive used the LR in the past. In fact..... the LR was the only gun I used in chromosome aside from the SMG as a back up. It was the only Light weapon I ever specced into, and I know that I was among the first to ever start using them.
Now..... let me tell you guys..... that even with only Lvl 1 I managed to go 15 - 2 on my first game and 17 - 1 on my second. This coupled with each suit only costing 100k...... its glorious. I decided my next proto suit will be the Amar assault simply because of the LR bonus! Of course..... I think ill spec into the LR first because I may not even need the amar suit honestly. My LR does sooooooooo much damage, and im so excited for the viziam and proficiency bonus that will come with it. But anyway guys..... I just wanted to throw this post up because im just really excited to fall back to my roots and finally be able to handle long range maps! |

Correction. It only got good again when they added the scope. I personally have died twice from LR's since uprising came out. Both times were from viziams that I just wasn't paying enough attention to. I never once thought they were "bad" but they were incredibly difficult to use back when I originally specced into them. I mean...... the glare from them was absolutely horrible. This coupled with the AWFUL aiming back then made it a very very difficult weapon to use. Now that the aiming is good again, and the glare doesn't exist, and it has a scope. The LR is just good again!! and im super excited to lay down the hurt in a week when I unlock the viziam and start my seal clubbing exercises again! |

I actually liked the iron sights and grew accustomed to them. The LR was fine prior to its changes, the problem was that it is a niche weapon and too many people tried to use it as an offensive weapon instead of a point defense, long range weapon. |

ya, id rather take the proto amarr assault suit over 2 extra dmods anyday. with the way laser rifle damage increases extended heat build up time is more important than 1 or 2 points of extra damage. the suit just doesnt have the high slots |

I didn't notice honestly. But that might just be because I haven't used the LR in months so I wouldn't have noticed the difference anyway. |

Your completely right, and that's why im speccing into the amar assault now. However that's going to be another month before I get the proto suit for it. Until then I make due with increased damage output! |
