The only thing SOE dropsuits would be good for is discovery and exploration dropsuits. Maybe dropsuits that are only good for pve missions, or even mandatory for pve missions. Not saying that you'll have to rock a SOE dropsuit, but it could be a choice.
Here's a thought: exploration gamemode:
Some planets have lots of cheese in the ground, problem is bots and the "indigenous" are going rampant whenever people try to set up shop.
How do you deal with those people? Simply send out mercenaries, decked in either SOE exploration suits (I'd like to see it look like a simpler Amarr dropsuit in white and blue) with high emp damage, scan monitoring, and health for a support/triage role. An archeologist dropsuit (probably minmatar like but yellow and black with a funky huge helmet and a drill/toolbelt of fun), deals close combat damage, can deploy helpful little tidbits on the battlefield and has highest scan rate for support/scout and can deploy drills and find minerals the fastest. And then maybe other dropsuits if you want, like a hacker dropsuit that moves fast and can cloak for infested drone areas, and then you have your other dropsuits that are used to defend those tertiary dropsuits in their duty.
And then the idea of a gladiator arena was pretty cool, what about gladiator weapons and dropsuits? Like custom painted ones...swords (not knives, but actual sword with fire shooting out of them, and lazors!) and maybe flag career dropsuits (crazy fast scout dropsuits, but with extremely little health). Or maybe dropsuits themed on "red team" and "blue team"
Like that, SOE dropsuits have a purpose, and there can be more variety for dropsuits so Dust 514 isn't your average shooter. It's a shooter that gives you a choice of career:
Want to be the merc on the battlefield, waging war with guns and blood? Go ahead
Want to be the deep space excavator and explorer, trekking across barren planets, finding mystical and amazing loot along the way? Proceed
Want to be a gladiator, competing for fame and glory in the arenas? Not gonna get in your way
What do you think? This could REALLY save dust from the lobby-esque shooter that it really is.

Now I vote when need s.o.e dropsuits because running around as a gelenta/amarr would be amazing but what are ya'lls guys thoughts on the matter. Why stop with just asking for SOE? Ask for all pirate factions! 
I think we should also think about neutral or highly customizable dropsuits. Like dropsuits made for one specific task....maybe not pilot dropsuits, but like I said before, a mining dropsuit, a construction dropsuit. Maybe a commando dropsuit that is completely neutral!

Maybe a pirate dropsuit, or some new NPC dust faction! It looks cool, let the devs use it! :D
Here's my last thought that I want people to talk about: Jove dropsuits....they'll be EXTREMELY OP, but maybe they have to have jove weapons that will have a drawbacks, like high recoil, extremely low rate of fire, etc..., so they'll be walking talks, but they will have trouble dishing out attacks. |

So in short, no to Jove suits.
Well who knows, Jove at least need some kind of protection or military group. I know there is a group that used to be part of the Jove but separated from them after an attempt coup or something along the likes. Also, Jove do have battleships (I'm pretty sure they do).
So maybe you could have a Jove drop suit for the lols. I don't know, it's just something to ponder and ruminate on really :D |
