1) I don't know much about Tanks 2) I've never driven a Tank 3) My buddy is a tanker and he does very well 4) Sometimes my buddy and I talk about his tanks 5) As CCP is working on Tanks, I feel compelled to weigh in.

Here's the part where I post unintelligible "feedback" on how to balance Tanks. Lastly, I offer useless "tips" and "advice" to actual Tankers.

Absurdity, right? A waste of time? Indeed.
...
So help me understand ... Why do we so frequently observe this exact scenario when it comes to Scouts?
A'ight fine I'll just stop supporting Scouts all together - didn't know you had to be a Scout Hipster to want them balanced xD
Nah, I feel ya though... |

^ Let the record reflect that the aforementioned, generalized scenario does not apply to Aeon Amadi and other balance-minded mediums. - Shotty PS: You have my full support if/when you run for CPM. Thanks for looking out for the little guys. o7
I appreciate that a lot. I've still a lot to learn, honestly - including limiting my occasional outbursts. I shifted those from targeting CCP to other players and, suffice to say, once I learn to not target other players (and just let **** go) then I may be ready for the CPM but currently I don't feel I've the patience or control for it.
Though, we still have a good six months until fan fest - when the elections usually occur. So I think I'll be okay by then =D |

I've been advocating for Active Scanners to be more specialized in their general roles. Despite a hefty 25 second cooldown, the prototype flux scanner seems a bit too powerful to me in that it still retains a strong 28db Scan Precision - which if you do the math the only thing that can get past that is a Gallente Scout with complex profile dampeners or a Logistics with profile dampeners. Minmatar Scout just doesn't have the low slots for it, so it will always be on scan.
If you look at base values, an Advanced Scanner can pick up Scouts who don't have all skills to level 5, so it's powerful enough in it's own right. Honestly, I feel that the best way to bring back the Scout's ability to "stealth" is to make Scanners balanced in terms of: Higher Range = Lower Precision and vice versa, but this is just a hint of the problem as you have to consider that the effective scan area is -massive- with the prototype flux having an effective scan area of 31,000+ meters.
Considering that the Angle of the scan means absolutely nothing since you can just spin in a circle, scan duration also needs to be looked at otherwise the scan angle is pointless.
That's just -one- of the many problems with the ailing scout. Gallente scouts also suffer from now useless bonuses as having increased scan range only helps him now that team-view TacNet has been removed. Even still, if you just look in the general direction of someone they will still pop up on your personal TacNet. Don't even have to look directly at them either, if they're <75m they'll automatically appear if they're within your field of view.
Cloaking might help but there's still the issue of a broken precision/profile system and if cloaking is available to everyone than Logistics would still be the better choice simply because of higher base survivability and fitting resources.
I'm not even going to touch on Speed Tanking considering that a base scout would need to be able to dive out of and into cover at a distance of 3.40 meters to not get instantly killed by an Assault Rifle with a half-decent shot. It's physically impossible to out-strafe someone at any range so speed tanking isn't reliable at all.
This, all coming from someone who plays Prototype Gallente Assault =D |
