I see a big problem with this game that is going to cause it to be in Beta balancing limbo forever.
The ability to train more and more skills and to train them higher is a wonderful thing in a game like EVE Online. You don't necessarily get better and better but better and then varied.
There is a lot of stuff to do in EVE. But not so for DUST.
DUST is about one thing GÇö ground combat. You don't go off to do mining, probing, trading et al and you don't do those things in an enclosed environment that you have to keep loading into for a short time.
So this is why tanks, for one, are all of a sudden not so OP anymore. More people are training up AV skills. More people are now moving into their second or third weapons role. More tanks hit the field and more proto AV followed.
This game should have never had a skill system. It should have been a money system. EVE ultimately runs off of this kind of system. Money is what limits the use of items.
Now you might say that that is pay to win. Really? It is already a pay to win game. In addition to the item differentiation (better stats, they do exist) and boosters for AUR purchase you also have the EVE player base as benefactors.
The win by money aspect is already there. The poor stay poor not because they can't afford stuff but because they also have to grind or cook a character off to get the skills up first. Then they have to deal with protobears. It's fairly easy to keep using stuff due to money costs.
Everybody can be proto. It just depends on how many times you can afford to run a certain piece of gear. You like the expensive proto grade stuff? You pay! It is only a matter of how often.
This would make more sense in terms of competition and the sandbox "survival of the fittest" mentality players have in the EVE world. War thrives not just on skills but on supplies and the ease to which you can get supplies to the troops. The only skill that should exist in this game is the skill to strategize.
Everybody wins! |

Just reduce the length of progression by increasing SP gain or reducing the multipliers in the skill tree.
Make so it's possible to grind out a new role within a month or less. We don't have the player numbers to have a 5 year outlook at the moment. Perhaps that will change, but that's not what the tea leaves are revealing. |

their are roles on the battle field, and their is still plenty of room to expand their, once pve exists that will also open up new roles, and areas to expand your skills into.
my character is already growing wider, and it seems fine |
