TL;DR: ...to play dead
How about a way to temporarily "shutdown" our dropsuits? Power down action executed via NeoCom akin to now available "suicide" and "leave battle" options.
When down it disappears to active scanners, to passive scanners, can't be actively aimed on with aim assists so aiming reticle doesn't "lights up", gives no weapon efficiency info. Displays no name tag/shevron/HP bars. Apparently feels like looking/shooting at a dead clone "ragdoll"...
And now some obvious drawbacks before you start to scream OP!
Initiates a localized "red line effect" for a merc who dared to power down... HUD switches off. Red line timer displayed only and a prompt to press interact button to bring power back... No scanner, no overview map, no RDV requests. Nothing. Weapons/equipment switched off... Comms too... (though skype should work just fine ) Can't be revived/repaired... Affected by splash damage at an increased rate... Takes increased damage if red decides to shoot despite no cue from aiming reticle HP drops slowly... Can barely move the whole body. But can turn head, move eyes to look around.
Can be powered up again ofc before time runs out... Works safely on certain planet types only (barren/temperate)... Or different planet types result in different amount of time to bring power back maybe...
What do you think? Great! UP? OP? Waste of time... |

I'm not quite sure what benefit this would serve. If you've been scanned, it doesn't matter if you drop off their radar, they will most likely quickly search the area you were last seen on the radar.
Also, if your suit powered down, you would lose shields as well. |

Also, if your suit powered down, you would lose shields as well. That's all correct. But when you power down you acctually disappear to all weapons aiming systems... Even when you see "you'v been scanned" msg you can move couple of meters, power down, fall to the ground. When red will come after you the dot will be there on the scanner but the originating point will lack your "presence"... Your motionless "redlining" clone will be there waiting for search party to move away. When they forget to MD area and turn their backs at you, just power up and ambush them... If you make it before redline timer elapses ofc.
Power up should take a second or two and not stop redline counter untill all systems are back online... |
