Really? Simple addition and subtraction already done by the computer is enough to make you call it accounting?  Mass Effect had as much math.
That would be a better description for EVE. |

Its a Slow-Paced FPS with Accounting added in.
Its not a really big feature, all you do is just set it to how much you want and the game buys it for you.
KSP has more math the DUST. And I think I killed them all. |

It's an inexact science unless you actually keep track of it. I use spreadsheets to monitor my income. It's not EVElike by any stretch of the imagination, but I do my best. Anyways, you never responded to the OP! What do you call Dust 514 to people who are curious? |

The fact that there isn't an adequate quick description is part of the problem with attracting and keeping new players. You either explain too much (especially the potential - the "soon"Gäós are particularly problematic) and they get bored and/or intimidated and never try it, or too little and they get frustrated and/or overwhelmed when they try it and find it doesn't work like a typical console shooter. CCP's vids don't do a great job, either, unfortunately. The whole play your way, "fight your own war" bit doesn't mention the fact that it requires some pretty serious time investment and stat crunching (for the "casual" gamer, at least, and people coming from most other FPS games) to skill a single suit/weapon/module build to a worthwhile level of efficiency, never mind if you want to try different things out and actually be effective. The RPG elements need to be stressed quite a bit more prominently in trailers, imo. |

It was supposed to be this cool ground combat game that integrated with EVE Online. Sadly, they didn't really worry about that part opting instead to get mired in needless FPS conventions like any other shooter. So, in the end there was no simultaneous fleet/ground warfare to conquer PI command centers and change ownership of PI production; No reorganization for the focus on planets as the source of resources and no real concern for a shift in politics and economics in EVE.
Because that is the way it was originally marketed. |

A game that is only enjoyable if you dream and wonder more about the future of Dust, rather than actually playing it.
So far, I've had a few friends who asked me about it, and I told them to not look at it whatsoever until Summer 2014, and even then, don't get your hopes up (assuming it survives). |

I can never give a short description because there's just so much to talk about. Usually I have to include the small print at the start of my description. "Well, this game definitely isn't COD or BF4..."
