OK i was playing around with the plasma cannon and noticed a few things about it that need to be fixed to help it be come a better weapon on the battlefield. there seems to be some kind of lag between when you fire your round and when it actually leave your cannon. it doesn't seem to do enough damage to anything at all not even militia tanks and suits. the drop rate on it is way to high and its pretty hard to shoot any anything that isn't right in front of you.last but not least there seems to be some kind of issue with change weapons because when ever i tried to change to my sidearm after firing it would always change me back to the cannon and start reloading or sometimes just not change at all. i'm not hating on the plasma cannon, i love the idea of the weapon and it could be very useful for av but like DUST 514 in general there's just a few little simple things that need looking at. |

I found that the arc helps hit anipers that usually couldnt be hit by hit-scans, so keep that. I hear they recently buffed flight speed, so i'm using it now. Splash is a ohk on any mlt suit besides gallente, which i'm fine with(it is gallente tech isnt it?) only true thing i have to complain about, is the fact its a huge ball of plasma, so if it grazes someones left knee, shouldn't it deal 'splash' but continue onwards? I mean a ball of plasma for christs sake. |

Yea, it G-Tech but the reason it doesn't OHK them at times is because the cannon is an anti-shield weapon and Gallente are armor tanks.
Personally I would ask for a second round at proto, up the flight speed, and increase the arc slightly. Haven't used it in a while so I would have idk about the speed buff.
`Sigh. Just another fun game of DUST. |

The delay you're seeing is probably standard lag.
Because the PC actually fires a projectile (unlike hitscan weapons like the AR) you have to wait for your trigger pull to get to the server and then back to your client before the projectile is rendered.
This is my suspicion anyway. It could be tested by going to a server that is on the other side of the world and seeing if the delay gets worse.
The same thing should also be happening with flaylocks, swarms and mass drivers. And grenades for that matter. |

What @Garth said about delay.
The question is how long is the lag you are talking about for those of us that have not used it? Anything under 1/2 second is CCP server design most likely.
The standard, acceptable to CCP, ping time appears to be locked in at nearly 1/5 of second. Hit button, ping server, server reacts, pings client and something happens. Of course it might be different then that. The most obvious path would be hit controller, ping server and client starts action, server registers action and verifies with client. Both of those require the server to let the client continue because you might already be dead. The server could well have the bullets in the packet ready to kill you as you press the trigger.
DUST is slow from a controller input/action/available on screen at the best of times. Add the fact that the Move has to be accommodated in the input scheme it means more code has to verify what is happening. God forbid they were to use gestures. |

Wall of text O.O But +1, plasma cannons really need some love. You forgot to mention the random misfires, sometimes nothing happens at all when you fire. Another thing is the steep cpu requirement to fit them, it would be nice to reduce the cpu requirement and make it cost some pg too. |

You know what else might help it, a second shot.
P.S. there's a channel for Plasma Cannons users called Cannon Fever. |
