Its simple people! I want to know how much money is being generated, compared to the amount of money that's being destroyed/lost.
With districts cranking out billions of ISK monthly between the major corps im curious to see just how much of that money is trickling down to the individual. In other words im wondering if DUST will eventually hit a point where everyone can afford to go into public matches and consistently lose tons of money on proto equipment? You see, if the game is making more money then its losing then eventually that extra money is going to trickle down to the individual mercs and the overall value of the money we make in pub matches will be less.
So im just wondering if someone from CCP or anyone who thinks they know could tell us just how much money is being generated compared to how much is being lost. |

A great question.
I have noticed that the big landowners are ofter running proto everthing in pubs. Merely circumstantial though.

It's easy to make money, so eventually, in theory, yes, protos in public matches will be more "normal". But not the standard, because the overall cost is too high for people to consistently only run protos. Those folks will go broke, unless they are already excellent players.
In which case, oh well. Take the position, and get ready, because nothing you can do stops people who are better equipped AND better players.
And if they lose a lot, those same players can also rack up a bunch quickly.

Wait until the secondary player-controlled market comes in probably next year. The prices for gear will skyrocket to epic proportions. Tell me, are you ready to pay 10,000,000 ISK for just a single proto fit? Imagine dying 5-10 times in a match and then realizing you just lost 50-100 million ISK in one session alone. And that's just for the suits. Imagine the vehicles. |

And that's just for the suits. Imagine the vehicles. depends on the mats needed to make the gear. the odds are at first the super efficient indy corps wont re-tool to make dust gear so there will be some price hike initially but the economy will stabilize as bigger corps start providing dust gear and underselling the competition. for lore reasons though (and price) I get the feeling dust gear isn't gonna need veldspar(explodes in atmo) so exotic minerals (or even moon mats) my spike the price as well.
EDIT: so I don't expect prices to rise to much A) ccp set the prices where they want them they will set the mineral value to match it. B) tanks and drop ships and guns are very small compared to spaceships |

When was the last reset? Over a year ago?
However long it has been, it's somewhat rare to find proto-equipped players in pubs. Sure, the tryhard corps can afford to run proto 100% of the time, and ever some players that don't run with a squad of killers 24/7 can as well. Why would that change for people not involved in PC? Which is what, 95% of Dust's population? |

No where to spend your isk.... Not even player to player trades... So players can sell unwanted officer weapons and players with ISK stash's can buy them....
Not even a forum section for setting up trades really ready.... Its something that could be one of the key unique features to DUST...
Even a player to player trade economy and market.
ontop of that there has never been anymore talk about District's or planet's needing to build and maintain orbital beacon's or any structures... Which was the designed Isk sink to help offset PC income. |

Yes. I wrote a document about isk gains a little while back. It featured how much money the top three land owners at the time was making. The numbers came out to billions of isk on districts alone per month. The amount of money one region of space is making is insane right now. Granted we lose a ton of money as well, but the numbers demonstrated at fanfest were collected before districts were a thing.
So for example, in fanfest CCP said Dust had destroyed as much ISK as EVE has ever produced, and Dust has only been out for about a year. Now.... I know for a fact that not everyone was broke during fanfest. Which means as much as isk that was destroyed, there was just as much if not more isk that wasn't destroyed yet. and that was was WITHOUT districts. Now that we have what are essentially money presses pumping out hundreds of millions on the daily, AND taxes which also pump out millions on the daily, its only a matter of time before money becomes so abundant that the value of it will go down. |

This is why ISK sinks will play a key role. If you look at Eve Online, they have a ton of ISK sinks everywhere. Most of them are really small such as broker fees for setting up contracts, broker fees for setting up individual buy/sell orders, taxes imposed on NPC customs offices orbiting the planets where PI colony owners are situated, fees for setting up and expanding on PI colonies, SCC taxes imposed on sending messages to players outside your corp, upkeep costs for maintaining the existence of your alliance, upkeep costs for maintaining the operations of all your territories in Null Sec space, etc.
My proposal is a fair one in regards to what to do with the excessive ISK generated by the districts. Most of which are getting locked by alt corps nowadays. It involves implementing upkeep costs for every district owned and this proposal borrows a page from the POS maintenance in Eve Online and the PI colony setup as well.
Let's say you own a district in Molden Heath. That districts has various upkeep costs imposed on it. One cost for fueling the outposts in order to keep them functional at all, another (but smaller cost) for the smaller sockets of the same set surrounding the outposts. The more structures you have in your district, the higher the cost for fuel. These costs would be small but have a daily cycle that resets every downtime. Thus the cost becomes cumulative over time per district. There would also be another cost for repairs that need to be done after suffering an attack (if the attackers win, they foot the bill).
This is one way of implementing upkeep costs so that slowly the amount of ISK in circulation can start to dwindle assuming CCP balances the ISK sink with the ISK faucet. This also has the added benefit of ensuring that no one alliance has total control of all the districts because the upkeep costs and effort needed to keep track of such costs will discourage the power blocs from holding too much land unless they are willing to make Dust 514 their second job just like how Eve players with director positions treat Eve like a second job.

Starter and militia fits are the path to an isk billionarie from pubs. But I recently started running advanced fits since I now have an isk nest egg the size of a Godzilla.
Its a trade off with better gear equals more kills and less deaths but on the other hand a single militia death costing 2k is nothing versus a proto death costing upwards of 180k. |

Your right. I pay a premium for my K/d and it balances out about 50% of the time. The other 50% of the time I lose money. For example, last night I played with my squad in an epic domination match. It came down to the wire and we were coming back from behind. We just barely managed to win by cloning them out and I went 44 and 8. I had over a 5 k/d (which is what I normally aim for) however I ONLY made 500k ISK that match. This does not balance out the 1.7 million I lost, so overall I still lost over 1M isk.... My k/d is pretty though! |

Well I mean, I don't really have to think about it that much we can just look at EVE to see how effective it is, and right now..... it looks like goonswarm owns 50% of null sec. I understand what your saying. Make it easy to own small amounts, but penalize those that try to monopolize, and make those who monopolize fall if they don't do it correctly. By stapling fees to everything it will take isk out of circulation, but based off fanfest from the last two years its pretty safe to say that those fees just aren't enough.
HOWEVER, that doesn't mean they shouldn't be implemented. Small the fees may be, they still do add up so I would support an idea like this. It wont fix the problem, but it will make things better! |
