I agree that AV damage bonus/ difference doesn't matter or do anything anymore. |

the problem is how it used to work was a gunnlogi tried to out-damage a madrugars tank and the madrugar tried to out-tank the gunnlogis damage
what went wrong with this in uprising was they took away the gunnlogis bugged damage mods and kept the madrugars bugged armor reps so now the madrugar has an unfair advantage over the gunnlogis and can now out-tank any damage the gunnlogi can dish out |

Right now, a major reason why the Madrugar beats a Gunnlogi is due to their insane ability to rep due to it being bugged.
See both Armor and Shields should pulse 5 times, once every 3 seconds for 15 seconds, but it seems the Armor rep pulses once every second for 15 seconds, obviously broken (3x reppers).
As a major Caldari Tanker, I understand the unfairness when it comes to fighting other tanks, being part of PC meant I had to switch to Gallente if I wanted to take part and actually fight. Balance will never occur if we look at how things are right now though, we have to wait.
If you do want to play as a Gunnlogi pilot, I recommend buffer and speed, rather than repping. Gunnlogi is an Anti Infantry tank atm, whereas the Madrugar is an Anti Tank tank, with that in mind your weaponry shouldn't be focused on being high damage, rather a scattered blaster will do the trick allowing you to focus on your shield output.
I run a scattered Neutron Blaster, and I kill stupid Madrugar Pilots, you need to be a lot smarter as a Gunnlogi Pilot, know your enemy, use speed mods to engage and disengage, for example, approach madrugar from behind, fire at him til he activates his Repper, retreat rapidly and count, you've got until your speed mod deactivates to stay far enough from him but close enough to rush back in and fight, once the reppers are down go at him with full speed and smash the fool.

With all due respect shield tank is hit and run, its not supposed to stand toe to toe with armour.
Play it like you would a scout, pick your engagemente more wisely.
I f**k up well fitted maddys with a militia fitted gunloggi with std large missile turrets, it has 5608 shield with 24.00 passive regen and a light booster, torque mod and mlt diagnostic mod.
Just think like a scout and you will See a difference or fit a shield hardener for burst tanking, dont forget to back up as you fight the armour tank and again, pick your engagements wisely.
If you don't like that then switch to armour, your using the wrong tank.
Fyi my tanker alt, 4300+ kills 15.70 kd, so try to tell me to gtfo because I am doing it right, hope this helps and I'm not trying to patronize fellow vets but I see alot of people shield tanking wrong or attempting to use/fit a shield tank to be like an armour tank. |

I have much better luck running Gunnlogi's against infantry than I do with Madrugars, and my Madrugar handles enemy tanks much better than my Gunnlogi.

2 volleys off a large missile turrets forces the maddy to rep, run away and wait until it's on cd, then engage, maddy realises it's do or die, keep reversing while firing and you win.
My tanker alt is mainly maddy but shield tanking requires smart play and im hooked on it.
Ps that was just one scenario obviously but if you are wise with engagement they will always fight on your terms |

Read what I put, don't go toe to toe wwith a maddy, make them fight on your terms, they rely on you going toe to toe with them |

Except even this is deceptive. While armour tankers are weaker against AV grenades and swarm launchers, shield tankers are weaker against forge guns and flux grenades. While swarms and AV grenades are still effective against shield tankers, flux grenades do next to nothing against armour tankers. If he does that, then compliments to the Madrugar as not many people do run double rep tanks, as they have such little armor due to the requirements of the reps, if you do see someone with low (full) armor, then expect that, that's where your skill as a pilot comes into play.
Most Armor Tanks have between 6000-6700 Armor HP, it's a standard fit that everyone knows, Plate, Rep, Hardener, Hardener, PG, and then a Heatsink and Scanner in the High slots, common fit. It's what most people run when I speak to them, and what they advise newer tankers to run (who would've thought, learning both Armor and Shield tanking can be useful.)
So my original tactic stands when coming across common fit madrugars
Anyways, a double rep can be beaten through Rail or AV, unfortunately that's the only way to compete with such a tank, but due to their low Armor you can finish them before their reps kick in, I use a compressed proto rail with two damage mods for this, simply activate your heatsink, fire, by the time the reps have had it's 5 seconds to turn on you should have him.
Also, I will have to check the stats against actual gameplay, not that it matters too much, we simply do not have enough health given in those 5 pulses, even at 5 seconds due to another 30 second cool down.

Meh, low reps, low HP compared to high rep, high HP Madrugars means it's gonna seem a lot weaker to most AV except Swarms, because we have 30% resistance to it iirc.

shields in dust 514 have weight doesn't really make sense,but they do. a charybdis base with no shield extenders and no speed modules vs a charybdis with no speed modules and shield extenders moves slower as if bunkered down. this same concept applies to the gunlogi tanks. this did not use to be so shields are not supposed to have weight. CALDARI tanks suffer they have ****** resistance modules ccp hase nerfer them so they can only run effective hp with missiles and missiles are still crap any way you put it. a solid decked gallente tank wins hands down vs caldari in any match period assuming both users are skilled equally.

1 question... Why you try to play shield tank as toe to toe? Its like in infantry role . armor for toe to toe, shield for hit n run. Do same. If you will drvie maddy from back he will have much trouble bec sac blaster turns forever.
And tip for every tanker. Play with mate (take a friend with packed av) and when its coming to tank v tank, he exits and av'ed him while you shoot him too. Got taken out this way several times.
Other thing. Im maddy (blaster n rail), and im very happy of vixed rendering. But im more scarry about other thing. No av,tank, fg, swarm...i most scary of laggs. I dunno but i have soo much more lags than before. Im rather scary than i will get lags and hit some wall or due to lag stay in same place while i think im driving and next im gettin 3volley at one time. Any others niticed lags?

Hit and run can be rather difficult though if you are slower then armor tanks by default...
Anywho, while I admit that using a missile Gunnie makes it significantly easier to kill Maddies (All I've been doing these last few weeks actually, feels nice to not be afraid of them and is a nice challenge), it is still an uphill battle to kill any Maddie with your Gunnie if he is just as smart as you. |
