In the past couple weeks, at an alarming rate, when loading into the barge the "loading circle" [bottom-right of screen] simply stops and the game freezes - unable to access PS menu or anything. I can still communicate through voice in whatever chat i'm voiced up in, but the game and ps is completely frozen. Other than perm chats, I cut down to only 3 temps and still freezes up. Happens in pub, fw, and pc indiscriminately. When it occurs, I'm forced to reset playstation altogether - on a few instances, when rebooting in the games menu (i have a few games on software) instead of showing dust514 as the first option at the top it shows the last game i played (far cry 3). As I'm usually in a hurry to relog, I click on that and have to load that up then go back through the menus, where dust will THEN show up. Not sure if i'm the only one that experiences any of this, but the freezing problem in loading screen in the biggest hassle. |

A little more information will probably be needed. This sounds like a problem with your PS3. Possibly your network connection but the PS3 is more likely.
How old is your PS3 (model number would be nice)?
Does the fan on your sound similar to a jet engine while playing DUST? If the Motherboard overheats it warps and can crack some solder connections. Plus some of the RAM chips can fail when overheated. See Heat Answers.
Have you changed the HDD?
The older systems (mine) came with 40/60/80 GB 5400 RPM laptop drives. Replacing them with 7400 RPM drives is a bad thing and will cause crashes. The heat will kill the drive under the worst case conditions.
If you used a Solid State Drive this should not apply. If you need to replace or upgrade the HDD then use a new 5400 RPM laptop HDD, or a SSD of course.
Heat Answers: The older the machine the more likely that the Thermal Paste under the heat sinks needs to be cleaned off and replaced with a proper modern paste. Arctic Silver is recommend by many and was my choice as well.
The temperature of your room should not exceed 80F. The same is true for many home computers, FYI.
Regardless of the condition of the Thermal Paste the vents for the system get clogged with dust (hah!) and pet hair. The more pets and smaller siblings one has the more likely that your PS3 will need to be cleaned.
Look at iFixit.com to find out how to disassemble it as well as put it back together. Keep track of the screws, as they are non standard. It was mostly helpful but my PS3 is a second generation fat one. So I searched YouTube for a video for my specific model.
Good Luck. Let us know if you need more information or if you have more specific information to share. |
