From my WoW days, I seem to recall that, due to government restrictions, that game had a completely separate and isolated set of Chinese servers. Since Dust is being developed in China, I assume it's available there, but I never hear of Chinese corps or anything. Is EVE available in China, and if so, are those players on the same 'shard' as everyone else? |

Up until just a bit ago consoles were illegal in China due to moral issues. However just a bit ago they announced a change in this policy (if you make them there and of course teach them how to do it). There is an old saying in China which basically states "Ride in someone else's boat until you can build your own"

Now that's a good question. Maybe there's been no marketing towards China?
Maybe PS3's are still not allowed to be exported to the "non-blue" countries ...? |

Whoa, you weren't kidding, looks like a few hours...timely question, I guess.
I like to think the Chinese government looked at Dust, and said "we're making it here, we should play it here!", and that's how this whole thing happened.

This one's on the Tranquility server AFAIK, no ps3s in Mainland China, so no Chinese DUST players |

Huh...interesting (if dated) thread on the subject: http://www.eve-search.com/thread/773414/page/1 And here's an EvE-side dev blog about the Serenity server from last year: http://community.eveonline.com/news/dev-blogs/the-new-era-of-serenity-1/
I suspect, based on this, that Dust will soon filter out into the Chinese populace, but connected to Serenity, rather than Tranquility. |

A Penny Arcade Report article on the subject of consoles becoming legal in China - http://penny-arcade.com/report/article/chinas-weak-game-console-ban-to-become-even-more-non-existent
TL;DR - Yeah, Wiis, PS3, and Xboxes have been "illegal" there for a while, but trivially easy to get...so this won't be much of a change from the status quo. |
