OB's have required 2500 WP for the LONGEST time, since WAAAAY before the 6 man squad came around. In fact, as far back as I can recall OB's it seems they were 2500. I had figured that when the 6 man squad came around it would be bumped up to at least 3000 if not more, but it's still sitting at 2500 like always. And now in 1.5 we are getting even more ways to gain WP which will make OB's that much easier to obtain.
So are the WP req's for OB's going to be increased in this new update? Or is it just going to be OB Spam-fest 2013 Edition? Because I gotta tell ya, OB Spam-fest 2012 with the repair tool abusers/boosters last year got really old in a hurry. |

Yah, it just gives the winning team a big hammer.
Once the OBs start flying is when the losing side starts to spawn in as redline snipers.

OBs in general need to be rethought. They've been so boring that I often don't even drop it because it's such a scrubby mechanic in a game.
"Oh you got a bunch of kills? Let's reward you with 5 more free kills."
As someone who gets an orbital every match with my squad, I personally think they need to be removed from pubs and be EVE-ship only in PC/FW. Make the damn thing meaningful. I get enough WP sometimes BY MYSELF to drop an orbital. It's a silly I-WIN button that needs to be completely rethought.
CCP thought themselves so brilliant because you could bomb people from space. It was like "Oh wow" at first but now it's gotten stale, skill-less, and boring. |

Oh jesus, the fact that half of the peple i see here are either;
a) I've never seen the corp
b) in a corp who probably manages to scrape together enough WP between the entire corp for one OB a night
c) should be asking for a REDUCTION to the amount, to give them a chance at least.
All in all, NO.

It's been mentioned A LOT before, but they need to implement the same type of mechanic that MAG had.
There should be some sort of "Anti-Orbital" Generator that creates a shield around the atmosphere. The opposing team's generator needs to be shutdown (by a hack) in order to drop your team's orbitals. It subsequently can be re-activated (if the opposing team re-hacks it) |

Do you even bother to read? Or do you just make it an effort to talk out your ass?
No one here is asking for a reduction in WP for orbitals. If anything, it should be 5,000 WP per squad for orbital, not 2,500.
2,500 was balanced with 4-man squads and current WP system. If they're adding MORE ways to get WP every existing squad will start getting 3-4 OBs a match on the regular. I already do that with my squad in Dom or Skirmish. That's just stupid, though. OBs need to be meaningful, not handed out like food stamps. |

Because we need a constant rain of orbital strikes instead of the three or four per match we get now. Yeah, there's your facepalm. Until we get the dev blog we don't know how many more war points we'll be generating but from the hints that have been leaked it sounds like plenty.
Who cares if you recognize a corp? Are only Big Name corps allowed to comment on this? |
