This stupid glitch got me killed more times than I could count tonight.
It seemed to happen at the first shot, after a reload, an first shot after switching guns, it especially happens with the shotgun. |

If you mean that the Melee is triggered randomly I suspect the standard CCP/Shanghai DS3 controller software. It has been a problem since forever. The DS3 is a really cheap piece of consumer electronics and gets tired very quickly. If your DS3 has some years on it, try using the newest one you have. Or borrowing a newer one from a friend. If that improves your situation then either replace or repair your DS3. I finally replaced mine even though DUST was the Only Game I own that my controller was a problem for.
Other issues are the SONY wireless headset. It used to cause significant problems. I rarely hear of them so I had assumed they were solved, at least to some extent. If you are using that headset then try connecting with a USB cable. That used to help those with that controller. Although, now I realize I have no idea which unit they were plugging in. I don't have that headset so either search for the problem or try both.
If you are electronic tech aware, or have one available, the repair is not that difficult. There is an internal cable that doesn't actually use a connector. The cable is pressed against the printed circuit board. Yep. Pressed. Against. Not held, not connected but just sitting there in an embrace that loves to corrode and turn your one year warranty into a hassle since my local store only handles the first thirty days. After that, SONY wants you to return it in its original box. My newest was purchased in January and has been getting significantly grumpier.
Sorry for going on a bit. It has been awhile since I have responded to one of these and thought that it might be good to share the controller situation considering the quantity of New Berries rolling around in DUST.
