+1 bumpity bump bump. At this point I'm just really not concerned about everyone flocking to some FOTM crap. Respecs keep the limited content fresh! There's no downside that can possibly outweigh the fun of re-building a character. If you need a lore reason, just say there was a disruption of consciousness-transfer services, and this is Genolution's way of compensating us. |

Despite how much I would LOVE a respec. i still think CCP should give us one AFTER they add all the suits and vehicals and weapons. we cant expect one every time they do any little thing as this game is still in beta (if its not in beta well theres enough bugs for me to still think its in beta every time i play it) once they get all the game stuff implemented they should give us one good respec and let us know this will be the last one. |

Munch If anything, it would be offered to us pilots to drop skills they're going to temporarily remove. The character sheet acts more like a spreadsheet. Last time they fiddled with multipliers the extra points just plowed right back into the unallocated pile. It might also explain why sometimes when passive boosters end on the next log in the negative SP counting up error happens. |

I don't like respecs cause I've been through 4 Beta builds knowing exactly what to do.
A respec will only let the newer players "catch up" in terms of usefull skillpoint allocation.
We don't want that now do we?

This is a game of clones abd permanence. Now think of it this way doing respecs would be like allowing your charecter to forget things it has learned. Also allowing respecs would remove the permanence that this game is based on. CCP are already running an abnormal ammount of sp events that will boost your so so in time the resecs wont be nesasery. Most of the folks I see on here crying for repecs have skilled into fotm weponary and suits and after their opness they were nerfed so they could acctually fill their role and now want a respec so they can skill into a new winbutton. |

CCP Logibro dropped a hint that new suits may be in 1.5 (which would explain why vehicle and weapon balancing patch was delayed)
In which case, a Dropsuit Command respec is in order - if unilaterally by petition, or systemwide.

Now this is my first time debating respecs, so feel free to challenge, pick apart, or support my points, im always good for a civillised debate!
I would like to draw attention to this video. http://youtu.be/3fjch0kBjQI This is the only part of the current NPE that doesn't consist of WINFO boxes. Particularly I would like to point out a specific phrase!
The skills you train, will ultimately define the soilder you become
This to me says you are expected to specialise into a prefered role of your choice, this role will determine many things in what will eventually become the sandbox of dust! Now when I started I was fresh out of ME3 having played a vanguard, so I instantly wasted my points on a light suit and shotgun. Needless to say its not my kind of playstyle here.
At the time, I just biomassed and started again, It didn't matter, however even though I have found my role I have still made a few mistakes with my sp and truth be told some of that sp will never be utilised again. It's pointless.
However I am against the idea of full respecs, you should not be able to go from a proto caldari assault with a proto sniper instantly to proto amarr heavy and proto hmg. This is not right, or fair, or fun on anyone. However there is something that can be done that isn't as unfair as respecs, or unfair as being tied with your choice forever.
Allow a refund on a skill, one at a time, but with a little twist. Refunds only return 40% of the sp spent. The sp is gradually refunded over time You cannot get a refund on any skill over and above level 3 for racial dropsuit command level 2 for suit specilization level 1 for a weapon type and similar restrictions on vehicles.
Now what this means is lets say I spec into heavies, unsure if im going to like them, I reach level 3 of amarr heavy dropsuit command, when I go to train it to level 4 a little WINFO box appears and tells me if I continue with this action I will "lock in" in this skill whereupon it becomes unrefundable, so instead I put a little into commando specalization, don't like it, get it refunded, don't get the points back instead they supplement my passive. I then spec into sentinel, decide that really I don't like heavies, refund the points, don't get them back.
I then try another suit, I like it, lock it in and play for months with this suit. Now I decide I want a FOTM go for a refund, but wait I can't, I locked it in. No FOTM chasers, and those that do spec into FOTM of the month get penalised! Fair on noobs, fair on experimenters, not fair on FOTM chasers! |

beside the fact that your idea is just terrible, additionally you obviously dont get why some people want a respec, so I will explain this again for all the scrubs that do not get the point.
-we are still in beta despite CCP taking off the beta flag, thus in short we are still testing a incomplete game full of bugs -every patch is not just a balance change, every patch usually brings complete overhauls. something working now might be working different, be useless and just unviable next patch. you decided to specialize into something but get penalized for it and you wont get any SP back unless the skill ceased to exist or particular skill tree is totally different. -the majority of content is still missing, you do not had the option to get something else. there are plenty of people that would prefer other racial choice due to aesthetics but could not get them and were forced to use something else to keep up with the rest of the players.
this has nothing to do with FOTM chasing or just switching from one suit to another on the fly. we are talking about a one time respec. the best time to do it would be when all racial content is out, it would instantly create variation on the field and speed up balancing process. it is a win for everyone. |

The anti respec people are just sick of arguing with you all. So I'll take a shot.
Everyone has the same access to a new skill/weapon/dropsuit the day it comes out. Everyone starts with the same access to it. Nobody has the advantage of being able to use it more than someone else. If you have X SP invested in something out, you aren't penalized for it because something new comes out. Where there is some prudence is in reserving some SP to spend in these circumstances. Which EVERYONE can do RIGHT NOW. The truly UNFAIR thing is to reward the impatient SP investors who spent SP on stuff they didn't want, and reject the wisdom of people who waited to spend a part of their SP on something that was incoming. |

so according to you, those people that are looking to use e.g. a caldari weapon should experience horrendous grind with a miltia AR and play against those "pro" duvolle AR guys for several months till something new gets released and then wait another 2 months till all bugs are fixed with the new weapon?
