Did almost my entire cap today, so I felt like it was a good sample. All the matches played were solo. I've already capped every week since 1.4 came out; this weekend was put on hold because of your clever internal error bug.
Matchmaking If there is matchmaking, then I can't tell. In a full day of games, there were maybe three matches that were "close", and the rest tended to be ROFL-stomp/one-sided/red-lining/spawn-camped sort of affairs. This isn't what I'd expect from any "working" kind of matchmaking.
I don't know if it tracks if people are in squads or not, but I know I wound in matches with random nobodies vs. 6-man corp squads. So, whatever you've done here is a complete failure. If you can't see it working in a full day of play... yeah.
You might've been better off with gear-based matchmaking, since at least that would definitely restrict one thing (it's already obvious skill, equipment, squads, and other things aren't being taken into account). So, even if vets would have passives with their STD/MLT gear, there would at least be SOME measure in place, since apparently there aren't any to speak of now.
Time to Kill People die too quickly. It's laughable. You know how X race is the "beefier" race, and this race is the... throw that fecal matter out the window. It doesn't matter what race you picked or how you built your suit, you die in a couple seconds to any Assault Rifle. You die in something like "a" second if they're using a Duvolle.
I say this while being able to kill pretty much anyone in a couple seconds with an Exile... I have 0 SP invested in Assault Rifles, and I wasn't using damage mods. The people Duvolles can kill slightly faster. Everyone dies more quickly than they would in a game of Halo, CoD, etc. They die quicker than they do in games where you can't choose "beefier" suits, or add shields/armor.
Right now, you've rendered every suit choice people have made pointless. If I can drop a Heavy in a couple seconds untrained, or anything else - the idea of different suits is just a joke. If your suit's build, your merc's skills, and training weapons don't matter - this game doesn't matter. There's no point in investing time if you're just as good with a new recruit and a militia AR.
Assault Rifle Yes, I can kill anything with an untrained AR, but does that make the AR bad? Time-to-kill with most weapons is very short at the moment.
You have something called a "Burst" AR. Why do you have a "Burst" AR? The idea with Bursts is to conserve ammo, preserve accuracy, etc. as opposed to full auto-fire. Unfortunately, even with no SP spent, your full auto rifle has practically no recoil and is laser-accurate (more accurate than a scrambler actually, less dispersion). What exactly is the Burst model for then?
I'm not saying it should be different necessarily. But perhaps you should consider the wisdom of having one of the highest DPS weapons available also have next to no recoil and great accuracy. Some people might consider that an obviously stupid idea.
Rendering/Texture glitches at range This was a big deal in chromosome. At range, your rounds would be eaten by terrain that you couldn't see while snipers could fire at you with impunity. As it turns out, the problem is alive and well, it's just the enemies often aren't rendering either, which means you can't see them to attempt to return fire. Double plus ungood.
Multiple times I could see a sniper in the red line - I could see his whole body in fact. I can put a targetting reticule on his head. He isn't moving; he is a stationary target. My display is telling me I'm going to hit him for headshot damage. Pull trigger, shields flash, ZERO FRIGGIN DAMAGE. Again, and again... and NOTHING. Because your rendering engine still doesn't work. He was able to fire out and kill many people, but countersniping this fellow in the redzone was impossible.
At multiple angles, all with a readout for a hit... no damage, no hit. He never moved.
Consider this a happy marriage of your redline policy (that's the only way you could attack this guy, because he was so deep in the redline) and your failure to get the rendering engine working properly. It allows people to abuse the mechanics and never get hurt. Nice job. |
