Is there a thread here on basic random squad etiquette? My skill leaves a lot to be desired but I'd like to start trying some team play without irritating anyone more than I need to. |

My personal rule is, I don't join corporation squads, because they're probably trying to practice working as a team. Other than that, if it's not locked, I'll join any random squad and mass-invite the rest of the unsquadded players in the war barge. |

I always thought that of a corp did not want to squad with randoms then they would lock the squad. Feel free squad up with me if you ever see me, trying to work on my organized battle skills. |

Try to complement and otherwise work tactically with your squad. Even if you can't talk with them, try and cover their flanks, provide covering fire for them if they need it, and don't be afraid to break out the ammo hives or armor repair if it looks like they need it. If they tend to take more of a support role themselves, then don't be afraid to push ahead yourself and see if they follow. A key part of any group is communication, but failing that even people who can't talk to each other can still manage a semblance of coordination and teamwork. |

Do (mostly optional in random squads):
*Feel free to communicate verbally *Help squad before team, even in randoms *Help out newer players between matches with (good) advice *Communicate *Give out simple orders (especially if you're squad leader) *Use squad orders (help generate warpoints) *Point out availability of orbitals if you see the notification
Big don'ts:
*Sing *Play **** music loudly *Heavy mouthbreathers *Constant bitching and whining when killed *Rage screams (unless they're funny) *Drown out other squadmates with inane chatter to people around you *Have the voice of a 12 year old, and the same attitude to boot (young players are fine, but attitude is everything)

I think the constant bitching/mouth breathing/eating/inane nattering to non playing people should be a general rule of thumb for all... sad that its not lol |

^Nailed it.
Random squads are great. I run a solo corp and will jump in with anybody. Met some cool dudes/corps that way. Some I'd consider running with permanently (Shout out to my boys in Tyranny of Evil Men, Burgezz ETF, Ill Omens, The Generals, Strong Arm Bandits, 0uter Heaven, Third Earth, & D-Uni) if PC was worthy and I could force myself to tolerate politics.

My 0.02 isk Adding to that, get a good feel for what kind of equipment and weapons people are using while sharing what you use. |

Feel free to join any D-UNI squad you see running around that has spaces available. If you hop over to squad chat during the match and introduce yourself, you'll probably be able to stick around after the match is over with, unless the squad leader had x amount of people waiting to get into the squad. (Which usually is the case most of the time, but that's typically when they give you our public channel.)
But dustwaffle made a wonderful post about squad etiquette. |
