The armour plate doesn't regenerate naturally, at all, and carries a speed penalty.
Meanwhile, shields have no penalty and regenerate extremely quickly. |

The armour plates which regenerate have higher fitting requirements than shield extenders, still carry a speed penalty, and give less HP than an equivalent shield extender.
I'm not sure what you mean by shields only having one type, unless you mean that there aren't plates/ferroscales/reactives, but I can assure you that it's more of a blessing than a curse.
Shields do not increase your scan profile.
Buffing shields... You realise that shields were by far the dominant FotM just a couple of weeks ago?
For more information on armour vs shields and why armour is where it is now, I suggest reading this thread: https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=87752&find=unread |

You can see that as both good and bad. It's good in that the lower tiered gear can be effective, and it's bad in that it suffers at higher tiers. |

The HP on the ferroscales and shield extenders should be different. Why? Because the shield extenders regenerate inherently. The armour plates do not. To get an armour plate to regenerate, you need to sacrifice another tank slot which you could have used for plates, thus reducing your overall HP compared to shields, especially if you fit enough to get a regen good enough to compete with shields. |
