In order to survive in your tank/lav/DS, you must have a large amount of SP in that vehicles skill tree for it to be a usable weapon. however, to gain a good amount of SP and ISK to fund those vehicles, you need to run on the ground too. meaning you need to be good in the infantry role, meaning more SP needs to go into areas of the game you would rather avoid such as suits, and weapons. By doing this, getting a vehicle worth using is an incredibly challenging process and even at the end of it, you have a happyslap from assault forge guns to look forward to. seeing as i cant think of any solutions as it is currently 4am and i cant be arsed, what do you guys think? |

I think the SP system for vehicle users is perfectly practical, as I did it just fine using dedicated crap Militia gear and worked my way up, just had to play conservatively at first.
What the SP system fails at is anti-vehicle... The game forces you to only gain SP by killing vehicles, not damaging them (like the old system used to), which introduces a whole multitude of problems when it comes to "balance" and such...
Vehicles do allow you to become a force multiplier or do things normally impossible (Like zooming about in even crappy LAVs), and you still have your dropsuit.
But hey, that is just my opinion. |

Perhaps vehicles need to be thought of as something that is skilled into over the long term rather than right away with a brand new merc.
Conveniently taking the above idea seriously would help you deal with your hole unable to earn sp to be a successful tanker.
Of course the alternative is what most of us do. Simply make a tanking alt that sits about collecting passive sp untill it has enough to be a usefull tanker. When it needs isk for skills and whatnot just transfer it from your main account. |

Even tankers go through basic training. It takes a while and they're not interested in it but that's how it is. |

btw im passed this issue :P i have 9m life time sp. just thought of how irritating it was in the long term. However i can see that if the vehicles are made easy to spec into and can be made op, everybody would have them and this would become world of tanks :P
maybe it is practical. was just a sleepy thought |

the vehicle sp is practical if you've already got all the suits and guns you want.
a character that only tanks is not the best situation. |

22 million SP and I think I'm finally ready to start training for vehicles. I have my infantry skills and fat wallet to make that possible. |

Yeah thats another thing... because i skilled sp into suits AND vehicles simultaneously, I never have over 1m isk. especially since i use Dropships. |
