We have yet to see all the racial Scout suits in game so here's an idea that could be added to one of them, or to a Pirate faction 'racial' variant later on
Incorporate a second equipment slot on the racial varient of the frame, only at the specialized proto level but have it be present. Perhaps even scale up the CPU and PG a touch to account for running that additional item.
The virtues of this are several, it allows for a new role specialization, a sort of "light support" class which can fill a kind of triage role in the absence of a full Logi or until a Logi arrives on the scene. It would allow for snipers to play even better with the team, giving them options to deploy with a scanner as well as their hives, or hives and an uplink thus allowing them the autonomy to get into over watch where they're needed to relay intel to the team without diverting support resources away from the thick of combat. This would also provide for an infiltration role once the shield bubble and cloak arrive, having a scout cloak and move behind hostile forces to set up an entrenched position, or a team of two scouts moving in, both cloaked and deploying shield bubbles and uplinks.
Of course there would need to be balance trade-offs and the specifics of those depend on which race, or pirate faction, the suit is ultimately slated for, but I think this could add a lot to the game in general.
Also as a long time support player it would be a nice touch in my view to provide a few more roles for support than the standard medic/logi that most players know. Not only would increasing the support roles add diversity to game play but it would also increase competition for earning the support WP which would make for a healthier meta.
Thoughts and input, especially from Scout players and Logi, are most welcome

I feel that 2 equipment slots and higher CPU/PG is something that all light frames could use. Perhaps restrict 2 equipment slots to the scouts, but light frames in general need some love.
I support it mostly for the scanner tbh. I'll write up a longer response SoonGäó. |

While I normally enjoy your ideas and how eleganty you present them, I have to ask a question of why do we need/want this idea? Any suit with an equipment slot can place down a hive or use a repair gun, these are not solely linked to the logi class. For snipers...they honestly now don't use nanohives for the most part because it shows people exactly where they are on the main map if anyone has spotted the hive even if the sniper remains hidden.
Also, once scouts get the ability for cloaking, I believe the enemy will have the ability to hack hives, uplinks, etc, so just putting these things down might not be to helpful, also when equipment slots are put into a class, typically other slots are lost, such as with the logi most of them loose the side arm. For a scout, being able to use multiple high end gears and being able to adequetly protect themselves with enough modules would be very had as the light/scout have very low PG/CPU so if the PG/CPU was boosted this again has to come out of somewhere else in the light frames.
I have a feeling that your idea would be more of espiange and using R/E's and putting down proxies and other things that mess with the enemy rather then a light suit being logi related. Cause as most people know, any light suit that is standing still is a dead light suit unless they are hidden far in the mountains and are lucky enough that no one finds them. |

I should first be specific that I do not think support is limited solely to repair and resupply, that contributes to the way I've framed the OP. A scout who delays the advance of a hostile vanguard through use of REs, or who flags them for his squad through use of Active Scans is in my lexicon being every bit as effective a support player in those moments as a Logi with a repair tool locked on to a Heavy frame.
Second I should be clear that I think the light frames need some attention regardless of this idea so I suppose I am presuming their receipt of same in my post, this may make certain things less than 100% clear because the OP is framed in a theoretical future context which contains light/scout suits that are a bit more adaptable, at minimum with regards to fittings resources, than is presently the case.
The idea behind the role is a specialized hybrid, one that would be less effective at the direct combat roles already provided in the current racial scouts, but gaining more equipment/utility options as a trade off. While I use snipers as an example, because I've seen snipers use Logi suits to good effect, that type of over watch is not the primary way I'd envision this suit being used. Nor is this suit meant to 'stand in the fight' in place of a Logi. When I reference this suit holding the Logi space a bit it is more of a, dart in - deploy/employ equipment - dart out effect. I've seen scouts in game currently who run CQC Shotgun with a repair tool or injector, I've seen scouts who run Scanners, and I've heard many scouts drool over the coming presence of the cloak. The role I envision for this variant is tailored a bit more to those scouts who'd like to take the equipment/support aspects they already have just a bit further even if it isn't the apex of raw dps potential. Scouts who earn their WP by doing recon, hacks, providing intel, and using their mobility to provide vital stop-gap repair/resupply when their is pinned down and calling for help.
The main reason to want this role is due to its potential for battlefield shaping. Clear and timely intel, stealth, speed/delay, these things can shift the balance and a scout with 2 equipment slots could employ them to greater effect than most other frames/fits in the game. Consider a scout running a hacking mod, cloak, and REs, or Uplinks; how much havoc could a skilled player cause with that fit, how long could they disrupt and delay hostile forces from taking or securing a position? Or a scout working as a flanker with a heavy, the scout carrying a needle and repper just in case the heavy drops so that two merc team can press on even if the heavy takes fire so long as the scout knows when and how to maximize the survival value of their speed. It wouldn't be for everyone, but neither is the bonus to side arms present on one of our current racial variants.
I hope that paints the intended picture a bit more clearly.
Cheers, Cross
