I'm looking at all the different races mediums and they each seem to have a nice upside.
I'm tempted by the Caldari line since they have high shields and shields recharge alot faster than armor repairs.
What are you guys opinions? And also as far as how fast HP goes down, is there a difference between shields and armor?
Thanks! |

Minmatar: Is it the squishiest Assault suit, or the tankiest Scout suit? How good the suit is will depend on how you answer this question.
Caldari: Toughest shield tank, and has a few low slots if you want to Omni tank.
Gallenti: Toughest armour tank, which as of 1.4 means a lot more than it did before.
Amarr: Balanced slot layout makes it versatile. Good, but not the best at most things, except for heat distribution on laser weapons. If you use a Scrambler or Laser Rifle the Amarr suit is probably the best suit.

Let's say we look at Caldari suits...
What's the difference between Caldari medium frame to Caldari assault frame? Why are the medium basic frames more expensive than those role specific suits? |

Assault frame = +5% shield recharge rate per level. Cal Assault = +2% to shield extender HP per level. Medium basic frames gain neither of those bonuses and are more expensive, but the trade off is that they cost less SP to unlock.
Also, Fox- Min Assault as squishiest suit? 5x complex extenders plus some biotics and you're sitting pretty at 600+ EHP and very fast. I would argue that the Gallente's extreme vulnerability to grenades makes it squishier than the Min Assault. |

Can you fit 5x complex extenders on the Proto? Would it be worth it with the stacking penalty? I mostly just have experience with the Standard suit. I only unlocked Advanced last week. I do have Proto Minmatar Medium Frame due to level 5 being the prerequisite in 1.0, but I have never really tried it.
My point was that the Minmitar Assault suit functions best when played like a tanky Scout suit. |

As someone who made an alt looking towards becoming an minnie assault this is great news. Now I just need to figure out these skills/fitting and in a few months time I'll be golden, heh. |

Unless they've changed the suit in the last couple of months, that's not true. I played around with the fitting tool when I got my respec way back, and there was not enough PG/CPU on the prototype Minmatar suit to fit all complex shield extenders and a proto AR with every other module/equipment/grenade at the basic level.

Caldari, gallente or amarr are all good frontline suits, but caldari is more flexible with the synergy it has with it's shield tank skill bonues while the others suits dont as much. I left out minmatar as a frontline suit as i feel it isnt in league with caldari as a shield tank frontline suit(despite it having the possibley of high Shields(caldari is more flexible for less slot useage),minmatar is more of a hit n run suit and tend to find it style more as a flanker in open ground maps such as menus peak. |

My fav is a Standard Amarr Med Frame with a ADV AScR.
Here's the Fit.
Amarr A-1 Medium Basic Frame.
X1 Militia Shield Recharger X1 Standard Shield Extender
X1 Complex Reactive
ADV AScR Standard Scrambler Pistol
If you have the skills, I suppose fitting a Standard Shield recharger would be a smarter idea, however I don't have that skill yet. |

Depends on how you play.
Minmatar- solo play; not for the incredibly stupid (most of the people I run into on the battlefield) Caldari- solo play for the incredibly stupid (not as much potential as minmatar, but less squishy in case you don't know what cover and tactics are) Gallente- short to mid-range squad play Amarr- mid to long-range squad play
Armor tanks are obviously for squad play because you can't count on blueberries to repair you. |
