First off there has to be two sides to dust, the PC and the PS3.
PS3 is for playing for general public, the PC version will be used for testing new product before launch on PS3. Use the PC version to work out bugs and get input from players of what works and what does not. This would help out on player dissatisfaction and allow the game on the PS3 to run at a smoother rate. Those who are testers on the PC will not be able to use there main account for obvious reasons. Those chosen will be emailed updates and patches and given time frame for completion. At least 100 Hours of playtime must be used to say product is cleared for launch.
Tester will have incentives and will be able to launch teaser trailer of new content before launch, post blogs, and get feedback from the community.
Those who use the PC and test the product before launch will be able to bridge the gap between gamer and developer. This will also allow players to have a more hands on approach to the development of the game. Made by gamers, tested by gamers, for gamers.

Having a testing base would be good but what runs well on a PC does not necessarily run well on a PS3 and vice-versa. It would mean two entirely different build streams and that can be a beast to manage.
Okay, now do "How to fix Dust, humorously"

How to fix Dust, humorously
Ok to how to fix humorously. Turn off reality in game, release all content before testing, and see what happens. This I think would be a fun thing to see. |

I think the elitist PC gamer crowd in DUST already feel privileged enough as it is. |
