I'm actually very happy they are delaying any tank changes. Their original plan was to break tanks down to their basics and build them back up in 1.6. Terrible terrible idea. Now they are going to post what they have so far next week so we can discuss the best course of action. Very smart idea!
What would be cool though is adding in a few changes with what you currently have with tanks for testing.
For example creating certain roles with a few minor changes.
Shields are your hit and run tanks while Armor can take a beating and keep on truckin.
Speed I personally run a shield tank myself, and have absolutely loved the new nitro speed. My tank moves at the speed I feel it should to fulfill the "Hit and Run" part. So one part is kinda already there, though I would like to have more overall speed then a maddie. Currently Shield tanks are slower, so a bit of a buff to natural speed would put us where we need to be.
Hardeners Something else that is there but not very practical are Shield hardeners. 10 seconds active time isn't worth it over Shield Amplifiers. Bumping that up to 15 seconds seems a bit more practical but maybe 30 seconds with a full minute or more of cooldown. Hmm the point is you need to make it last long enough for practical battle engagements yet the cooldowns need to be long enough that I can't simply cycle hardeners constantly like an armor tank.
Shield Regan Currently regen is a joke for shield tanks, almost. While it is handy that you don't have to heal sometimes, it take forever to recharge shield passively. CCP has mentioned giving shield tanks much better regen, or more specifically, changing how it work. This would be a good time to get some data on where you need to set recharge rate. But the main point here is that the regen needs to take a while to kick in. Like 15 full seconds of no combat. And the recharge shouldn't be too huge, 80 - 100 per second, once recharging kicks in.
Shield Booster are actually nearly there I feel, maybe heal just a bit more and give it a longer cooldown, much longer. Shields are going to need Speed to get them out of combat and and rely more on passive recharge, the shield booster is there to give you burst tanking ability so a cooldown to match Shield hardeners.
Can't speak much on armor tanks, though they need to be slower I think and should focus on passive resist as opposed to active hardeners. Don't run armor myself so throw in your 2 isk if you run armor on how they can fulfill the role of the extended combat Tank. |
